Wednesday Racing Tips - Grafton Racecourse 08/11/23

Racing returns to Grafton racecourse this Wednesday with a $200k card set. There are eight races to be run and won and I think we will see some very nice horses step out who are coming back from a Metro level and some who are progressing towards higher grades. I have run through the card and picked out my three best betting spots so follow me below as I outline the race day at Grafton this Wednesday!

Grafton R3 - CRJC Life Members (Bm66) (1400m)

Selections:
#5 - Velvet Haze - $5.20
#6 - Burdekin - $5.10
#1 - Kibosh (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $12.00
#10 - Irish Exchange - $9.00

BEST BET - #5 - Velvet Haze
Velvet Haze is putting together a handy record in his ten career starts for Kris Lees and shapes up well here again to win. He recorded his third win at Newcastle two back when finding the line very well in an impressive effort that has seen two subsequent winners emerge already. Last time out he tackled this distance when running on well again to fill the placings at Coffs Harbour and now will be better for the trip and can win again.

THE DANGER - #6 - Burdekin
Burdekin looks like a key threat for Brett Cavanough here and just keeps producing good efforts without winning. He ran on very well at Lismore last time out when coming third after being bumped around a bit in the run but getting clear air eventually to emerge at the 200m and power home well. He draws a lot better now and gets a big claim here.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Kibosh (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Kibosh takes on a big weight here but is miles back in depth and steps out for just his second run since coming to Tony Newing from John Thompson. His first run came off a short few weeks break when running well on the speed, sitting on the leaders’ heels and then being blocked at a crucial stage and fading down the track after losing his momentum there. He will be a lot better for that run now and draws to receive every chance this time. More than up to this at his best.

Grafton R5 - Remembering Darcy Everingham Mdn Plate (1200m)

Selections:
#13 - The Young Years (NEXT BEST) - $3.80
#10 - Own Tomorrow - $4.20
#8 - Li'l Miss Hellcat - $18.00
#4 - Three Gongs - $11.00

BEST BET - #13 - The Young Years (NEXT BEST)
Competitive maiden race here but I do think that the Young Years is the leading contender here and is crying out to shed the maiden tag. He last stepped out over the 1400m here when narrowly beaten as a favourite where he led them out and gave a solid kick in the straight to just be claimed late. I think that back 200m in distance is suitable off the back of how he ran last time out and am keen to see what he produces now.

THE DANGER - #10 - Own Tomorrow
Annabel Neasham’s Own Tomorrow should improve sharply here off the back of resuming from an 18 week spell last time out when needing then run at the Sunshine Coast as she was posted three wide without cover for the trip before fanning out to five wide in the straight and not being able to produce much. Last prep she improved sharply second up and am expecting something similar here.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Li'l Miss Hellcat
I’m not sure that Li’l Miss Hellcat has what it takes to win this being a twenty start maiden now but she got awfully close last time and is one for your exotics. She stepped out over the 1120m here a couple weeks back when sitting near third last and then working into the race in a very brave effort to chase home the winner who was just too far in front to be caught. Shapes up well here off the back of that effort.

Grafton R6 - Jacaranda Cup (1100m)

Selections:
#2 - Sir Ravanelli (BEST BET) - $2.20
#6 - Swamp Nation - $6.00
#8 - Buffet Buster - $9.00
#3 - Boncassie - $9.50

BEST BET - #2 - Sir Ravanelli (BEST BET)
Sir Ravanelli has really gotten going and off the back of the way he won last time out when second up I can’t see him slowing down now. He raced a few weeks ago in the Prelude for this race where he stepped out as an odds on favourite, found the rail to lead and then kicked away in the straight for a dominant win. He will be tuned right up for this and I think he just wins.

THE DANGER - #6 - Swamp Nation
Swamp Nation has had just the one run since coming over to the Milligigan camp and it was a meritful run at Taree when stepping out over the 1250m in the Krambach Sprint where he worked through the run to find a space in the straight and start powering home where he made heaps of ground to just miss out on the win when getting going late. There’s already been a subsequent winner out of that race and I think he surely runs well here.

VALUE BET - #8 - Buffet Buster
Buffet Buster steps out here for Stirling Osland and should run well given his price here. He last ran at Grafton in the Prelude for this race where he was a big drifter in betting getting out to around $20+ and missed the start a length, then being trapped three wide with no cover before working to the middle of the track, overcoming the tough run and still powering home for second place. You can make a case he wins that with a softer run and I think he gets the chance to tip the tide on Sir Ravanelli here.

Best Promotions for Grafton Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
