Wednesday Racing Tips - Grafton Racecourse 12/07/23

The two day Grafton racing carnival kicks off this Wednesday and we have a great eight race card with some high level racing that is highlighted by the Grafton D.S.C. Ramornie Hcp in race 7. It is a listed 1200m sprint for a share of a whopping $200,000 prize money that should see some very good NSW runners accompanied by outer state stables. I have run through the entire card and highlighted my best betting spots overall so follow me below for an exciting first day of the Grafton Carnival!

Grafton R1 - Group 1 Horse Feeds Plate (C6) (2200m)

Selections:
#1 - Insider Trader (BEST BET)  - $3.10
#7 - Mirann - $4.50
#5 - Pepper's Ghost - $5.00
#9 - Your Temptation - $12.00

BEST BET - #1 - Insider Trader (BEST BET)
I am not sure why we are seeing such nice odds for Insider Trader but surely he just wins this race. He is in outstanding form for Greg Hickman when winning last time out at Hawkesbury at big odds coming from a close placing at the 2600m (Gosford) back to 2100m there. He’s hard fit now, steps out 100m in distance, Bullock’s on and is the class of this field, surely wins.

THE DANGER - #7 - Mirann
Mirann can hit hard here if he is near his best which I am not sure about but last time out a fortnight ago he raced against the track pattern at the Sunshine Coast but tired late in the straight behind Rations albeit running strongly in the early / mid part of the race. He’s been running in stronger races than this and does come back to Country level now and has always shown a bit of potential, gets an honest chance to show if it’s genuine or not here.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Pepper's Ghost
Pepper’s Ghost doesn’t look to be going to badly this time in for Brett Cavanough and picked up a sharp win three back in the GRAFTON CUP PREVIEW before racing in a strong BM72 at Eagle Farm where he couldn’t get into the race but wasn’t disgraced there before coming to this track and racing in the Grafton Cup Quality Prelude where he sat on the leader’s heels and stayed tough for the last 200m to only finish just outside the placings. That should have him very well prepped for this assignment and gets in nicely weighted, lots to like.

Grafton R3 - Fidelity Capital Hcp (C2) (1100m)

Selections:
#1 - Centre Bounce (NEXT BEST)  - $3.30
#3 - Tres Redoute - $3.20
#4 - Award Me - $12.00
#2 - Enterprise Jewel - $13.00

BEST BET - #1 - Centre Bounce (NEXT BEST)
This looks like a race in two and I am keen to stick with the Matty Dunn trained Centre bounce who we have had in our best bets tips before earlier this year. She is a well bred filly that hasn’t been seen at the races since the beginning of February this year where she finished well down the track in town at Eagle Farm. She’s had a nice break to improve further and it looks like she has off the back of two sharp trials last month, the most recent of which was particularly pleasing to the eye. She gets a soft run from barrier two and with Bullock on I don’t see them running badly.

THE DANGER - #3 - Tres Redoute
The market is giving plenty of respect to Desleigh Forster’s Tres Redoute who resumed at Lismore a few weeks ago and off a long twenty three week spell and was bumped at the start, raced a bit greenly but her class saw her peel widest in the run and power home in the straight for a smart first up win. She obviously gets an honest contest here but Jimmy Orman takes the ride, they draw well and she will have plenty more to offer second up here.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Award Me
Award me has been racing too well to be ignored here. She’s had just the two starts for Marcus Wilson since changing camps from Danny O’Brien earlier this year and both have been fantastic. She resumed at Ipswich off a thirteen week break over the 1200m mid May when jumping with the leaders early, doing it tough no cover out wide and still finding the line well enough to win. She backed that run up with a very game second placing at Ballina last time out when four weeks between runs and now comes into this hard fit, third up with more to offer and I think she is a top chance for the trifecta.

Grafton R7 - Grafton D.S.C. Ramornie Hcp (1200m)

Selections:
#1 - Far Too Easy - $4.80
#8 - Deepour - $3.30
#11 - Devil’s Throat (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $10.00
#4 - Ef Troop - $10.00

BEST BET - #1 - Far Too Easy
Far Too Easy looks to have returned to racing in great order for the McColm stable with an absolutely beautiful win first up at Doomben in a strong BM90 where he did the whole run and still came on so strongly to win there and look a stradbroke hope. He then raced in the group two MORETON CUP at Eagle Farm where he was outstanding from the back when never a winning chance from well back in the field but powering into second. There have already been two winners emerge from that contest and my guess is he has been placed here to boost ratings and move onto bigger things. He’s 3/3 at this course and can make it 4/4 here.

THE DANGER - #8 - Deepour
The current favourite for Adam Campton is a nice looking horse that will measure up against these here. He hasn’t been seen since Ipswich Cup Day about a month ago where he produced an exhilarating win, setting last along the rail and just cruising along until the turn where he shifted out wide and launched over them to draw clear with lengths to go. He gets in very well at the weights at just 54kg and has been kept for this race, with KWT on they should only go well.

VALUE BET - #11- Devil’s Throat (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY
We have been following Devil’s Throat since he resumed for the Snowden’s and has seemingly come back to racing an improved horse. He’s won both runs this prep so far, both in BM78 grade at Rosehill and both times he has settled back in the field before improving around midway through the run and then rocketing home on the turns. The Snowden’s won this race last year and Devil’s Throat does appear to have had the same set up. He will give them a start but will be easily the strongest late here.

I think that we have to tread lightly with a multi on such a competitive day of racing with so many of these horses having been geared for the races on this card. As such, I have given favour to those horses who have drawn good gates, are well weighted and who have top jockeys on as these factors can be all the advantage you need for a win in the circumstances. Best Promotions for Grafton Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
