Wednesday Racing Tips - Kalgoorlie Racecourse 04/10/23

Racing returns to Randwick-Kalgoorlie for another cracker midweek card as we are well underway the group 1 races season / spring season and I am keen to pick up some winners as the top NSW stables and Victorian stables send forth runners who look to be in for big Spring preps and some who are coming back from Saturday grade racing. I have gone across the seven race card and picked out a best and next best betting spot of the day as well as a roughie of the day and I am keen to get  stuck into things so follow me below as I outline my best betting spots of the day at Randwick-Kalgoorlie!

BEST BET - #1 - Pray With You (BEST BET)
Pray With You looks like a good thing going to roll the other favourite in this field and I think rates very highly here. He has had four runs this time, all of which coming at this racecourse. The first of which was a smart return win before putting together a bunch of close placings. He’s hard fit now, staying at his home base and strikes a beatable field.

THE DANGER - #7 - Red Cadillac
Obvious danger here in the favourite is Red Cadillac who looks to really have gotten going in his last few since coming over to Pete Fernie. He’s had a few runs back from a spell with the most recent being a smart placing here where he shifted four wide in the straight and powered home from well back in the field to place. Well suited now to go one better, just a bit short for me.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Thinking Game 
Always giving respect to a last start winner and Thinking Game looks a smart horse for the D & B Pearce stable. He’s had a few runs back from a spell but looked to really get going last time out when he stepped out at Belmont over the 1650m and fended off a very astute challenger to win sharply there. Can go on with it now.

BEST BET - #6 - Bin Shalaa (NEXT BEST)
Giving the edge between the two long priced favourites to Bin Shalaa who looks to have more upside and comes into this second up off of a long spell after having returned strongly for the Grant stable. He really got going late in the piece after being deep in the field behind Love Drunk Baby to motor home into third off not the easiest of runs. Plenty more to come second up, tough horse, only runs well IMO.

THE DANGER - #2 - Love Drunk Baby
Love Drunk Baby looks well placed to pick up another win here off the back of clicking up last start for a big win at this track. He stepped out over this distance, found the lead and gave a smart kick at the right time to claim the race then before narrowly getting the job done. He looks to have more petrol in the tank having been placed in this race and I am keen to see how he goes here.

VALUE BET  - #8 - My Boy Chris 
My Boy Chris, if the whispers are correct, will be set to return here with a bit of intent. He hasn’t been seen at the races since the beginning of May where he produced an end of prep run after winning and running a close placing at Albury and now comes into this with no public trials but with a good gate, nicely weighted and I think he will have a bit in his corner.

BEST BET - #3 - Let's Galahvant
Feature race of the day for a share of $150,000 prize money as Let's Galahvant steps out to represent the D & B Pearce stable and he looks well placed with the booking of Willy Pike to go over here. He’s had his fair share of chances but this horse does take awhile to get going and after stepping out for a smart placing at Belmont he now looks ready to go one better and Pike will give him every chance from the decent draw.

THE DANGER - #6 - Magnificent Andy
Magnificent Andy does look a deserving favourite for Simon Miller and rates highly here. He’s had two runs back from a spell, both at Belmont and has likely been worked towards a race like this. He resumed with a smart placing at Belmont before coming back after a three week break and belting a decent field at the track and now stays at the distance which is a bit of a query but Miller would not be placing his runners without consideration. Top chance.

VALUE BET - #5 - Big Screen (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Big Screen is a monstrous second up horse who has three wins and a close placing from five runs second up and shapes up big time here at odds. He resumed at Belmont over the 1200m off of a long thirty one week break in the Nicopolis where he looked to really be running well and was set to come on in the home stretch but just didn’t have an answer in the final 200m and drifted back in the run. He looks to make big improvements here now stepping out 200m in trip.

A clear top jockey in this meeting is James Mcdonald. He is the best jockey in the country and one of the best in the world. Kalgoorlie is his stomping ground and I have already tipped a few of his rides above but I think this looks a particularly good meeting for him. I have highlighted all his rides below:

I have opted to make a hybrid between following Jmac and my other top runner of the day in a place multi as there are a lot of smaller fields in some of these midweek races, which makes our chances of picking up the win better and also of having a horse run into the placings. I think that this should be a solid value bet and a fun thing to track over race day.
