Wednesday Racing Tips - Kembla Grange Racecourse 26/04/23

The midweeks return to Kembla Grange and there’s a stacked eight race card with a bunch of sprints on the card and the lone staying race to kick off the card over the 2000m. There’s a total of $330,000 in prize money available on the card and the track is rated a Heavy 8. It should make for an exciting day of racing, follow me below as I outline my best betting spots for Wednesday’s racing at Kembla.

Kembla Grange R4 - HAPPY 60TH- JUDY GRAHAM MAIDEN (1300m)

Selections:
#1 - Iron Man (BEST BET) - $1.70
#5 - Lady Gold - $3.90
#6 - Currency Lad - $8.50
#4 - Tsarism - $9.00

BEST BET - #1 - Iron Man (BEST BET)
Iron Man looks like a moral on paper here for the O’rourke stable. He resumed with a very strong run over the 1200m at Newcastle when powering to the line and diving late to just miss in a bob of the heads before taking just over a month away from the races when being crowded throughout the run and setting wide but still had a strong kick to just miss the placings.

THE DANGER - #5 - Lady Gold
Lady Gold looks like the only real threat to Iron Man in this field. The Croft trained three-year-old has a very good record at this track and resumes here today off a twenty week break and looked to be moving very nicely in a recent trial on the Warwick Synthetic. He runs well with fresh legs and went very close last time out at this track and trip, top chance if the favourite doesn’t fire.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Currency Lad
If Currency Lad’s past campaigns are anything to go by he should be ready to fire third up here and out to this distance. The Waugh trained three year old wasn’t bad at all when resuming to the races at Newcastle and then didn’t do much at Gosford last time out but I think she had some problems then. She gets Schiller on now and has had some time to lead back into this, should be competitive.

Kembla Grange R6 - JACK PRIMMER ELECTRONICS (C1) (1500m)

Selections:
#3 - Strombus (NEXT BEST) - $4.00
#5 - Chopin - $5.50
#9 - Resistible - $7.50
#1 - NHerb ame - $9.00

BEST BET - #3 - Strombus (NEXT BEST)
Tricky little race but I have Strombus marginally on top, who comes into this after just missing at Warwick Farm in stronger company than this on the same Heavy going we get tomorrow. He was honest as ever in defeat there when third and whilst he doesn’t love to win he should be at peak now off the back of that and is a top chance to record his second win here.

THE DANGER - #5 - Chopin
Chopin is a Cummings trained three year old who has to be respected coming from a stable that can do no wrong at the moment. He made his debut at Gosford when far from disgraced, running fourth there in a tough wide run before coming here over the 1200m on a bogged down track and racing third after a tough run out wide again. Should improve nicely off the back of that and will be one of the strongest late.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Resistible
Resistible is as big a chance as any in this field and has been running so well without winning this prep when resuming at Gosford mid March and looking the winner at a short quote before just finding one better in a smart horse who has gone on to win again. She then came here on similar going over the 1300m and came off heels at the 250m, looked the winner, but again just found one better to finish second. Should be peaking now and the stable is very astute with placing their runners. Top chance.

Kembla Grange R8 - WOLLONGONG (BM64) (1500m)

Selections:
#10 - Prize Draw- $7.00
#1 - Flower Moon - $8.50
#2 - Ruban Bleu (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $10.00
#7 - Invincible Legend - $5.50

BEST BET - #10 - Prize Draw
Prize Draw is another Michael Freedman runner who I think is very well placed in this race. He ran at the Hawkesbury over the 1600m at the beginning of this month on similar going to this after being around the mark but unplaced all prep and looked to really relish getting onto the Heavy ground when running a great time and just going down late to end up third. The time reads very well for this, not an overly strong race and I think he can win now.

THE DANGER - #1 - Flower Moon
Flower Moon is a very good looking prospect for Maher and Eustace who goes very well on wet ground and gets the blinkers on now after running fifth at Hawkesbury a few weeks back on similar going where he led, sitting on the fence but didn’t look suited at the trip when fading badly inside the last 150m. He drops back 100m now, will be fitter and if they ride him with a bit more of a sit I think he will be competitive late.

VALUE BET - #2 - Ruban Bleu (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Ruban Bleu looks well placed here for Matty Dale and has been having an honest campaign, with a first up win and a handful of recent placings before most recently running at Wagga when fourth in a big field after missing the start and overcoming a subsequently tough run. I think she will be all the better after that and if she jumps cleanly she will be up on the speed and have something for them still on the turn. Top chance and is over the odds IMO.

Best Promotions for Kembla Grange Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
