Wednesday Racing Tips - Kensington Racecourse 04/10/23

Racing returns to Randwick-Kensington for another cracker midweek card as we are well underway the group 1 races season / spring season and I am keen to pick up some winners as the top NSW stables and Victorian stables send forth runners who look to be in for big Spring preps and some who are coming back from Saturday grade racing. I have gone across the seven race card and picked out a best and next best betting spot of the day as well as a roughie of the day and I am keen to get  stuck into things so follow me below as I outline my best betting spots of the day at Randwick-Kensington!

BEST BET - #8 - Aditi
Aditi is a horse that we had a few weeks back in our midweek horse racing tips and I am not keen to jump off this ultra progressive Waterhouse / Bott product. He resumed off of a thirty three week spell and smashed a decent field when holding a 1+ length lead before kicking away at the 300m and never being in doubt. He did things in great time there and looks well above midweek grade. This is likely a ratings boosting placement and he should be strong here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Ghaanati 
Ghaanati resumes here and is a first up winner in the past and I am interested to see how this Snowden trained product resumes. He went away for a spell when placing a close runner up in Saturday grade at Eagle Farm and now has had a sharp Rosehill trial where he looked to be moving very nicely along before really hitting the line with some intent to come second. He looks like he has been placed with a fair bit of intent here.

VALUE BET  - #9 - City Of Lights (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
City Of Lights is a Joseph Pride trained horse that resumes here after a bunch of sharp trials since coming across to Pride from the Freedman’s. He’s only had the one career start where he belted a nothing field at Geelong over this distance range and now Pride looks to have been putting in a good shift with him where he really looked to get going at Warwick Farm last time out in a trial a couple weeks ago. He is as honest a chance as any here.

BEST BET - #6 - Stromboli (NEXT BEST)
Stromboli looks like he’s going to be very tough to beat here for the Hawkes’ boys after resuming off of a 30 week spell at this track over the 1100m two runs back where he smashed that field, chasing hard from deep to find the front at the 300m and never be in doubt from there. I think he needed some time to recover off that as he stepped out three weeks later and put in another good shift when running into the placings in tougher company. He now steps out third up, hard fit and ready to win again.

THE DANGER - #1 - Capo Strada 
Capo Strada looks to have come back very sharply for James Cummings and has to be respected here. He’s had two runs back from a spell and they have been both been full of merit. He resumed off of the 23 week spell at Warwick Farm over the 1200m where he ran a close second placing and putting the writing on the wall before stepping out at Rosehill over the 1300m where he saluted smartly inside the last 200m. He’s had a tick over trial since then and looks very well placed to challenge the favourite here.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Ka Bling
Ka Bling has to be given another look here after putting in some very sharp efforts last prep for the Snowden’s and then resuming off of a 19 week spell at Rosehill where he was trapped three wide with no cover all run and was forced to be shuffled back in the run and then was never able to come on. He’s a second up winner in the past and will be, if nothing else, fitter off the back of that last run.

BEST BET - #10 - Rhythm Of Love (BEST BET)
Rhythm Of Love looks like one of the better bets on the program for John O’Shea and looks to be in really good order this prep. He resumed off of a 15 week spell at Kembla Grange as a short priced favourite where he smashed a field over the 1200m before just missing in the last 50m last time out at Warwick Farm. He now comes into this third up, hard fit and ready to go over again.

THE DANGER - #1 - Body Bob 
Body Bob has earnt his crack in town after making it three consecutive wins since coming over to Pat Murphy and coming off a 12 week spell. He put back three back wins together with the last being an impressive win at Canterbury Park over the 1250m where he overcame a tough run to win again in great fashion. He looks hard fit now and ready to win again.

VALUE BET - #5 - August Bloom
August Bloom looks well placed to peak here third up and dropping well back in grade for the Snowdens. He resumed from a 22 week spell at the Hawkesbury when putting in a great shift to win well there before taking a four week break to recover before being swamped in a Randwick race in The Tea Rose Stakes. He now comes into this fitter for the two runs back, well back in depth and can go over here.

A clear top jockey in this meeting is James Mcdonald. He is the best jockey in the country and one of the best in the world. Kensington is his stomping ground and I have already tipped a few of his rides above but I think this looks a particularly good meeting for him. I have highlighted all his rides below:

I have opted to make a hybrid between following Jmac and my other top runner of the day in a place multi as there are a lot of smaller fields in some of these midweek races, which makes our chances of picking up the win better and also of having a horse run into the placings. I think that this should be a solid value bet and a fun thing to track over race day.
