BEST BET - #4 - Mountain Guest (BEST BET)
Mountain Guest looks set to complete the hat trick here third up from a spell and ready to peak. He’s had three runs in this time for John Sargent and has just displayed one of the most dynamic run styles I have seen in quite some time, finding plenty in both his 1400m debut run and 1600m second up run to score under pressure and now steps up to the 1800m third up and set to peak. Top chance at odds.
THE DANGER - #3 - Monfelicity
Current running favourite and justifiably so is David Payne’s Monfelicity who has a special place in my heart, being one of the first horses I really followed in racing. Whilst he hasn’t been racing in his old listed company he seems to have returned in top order for the stable. After needing the run first up he stepped out over the 1800m at the Hawkesbury last time out and got a split at the 250m to sweep away and win nicely before stepping out in Saturday company at Rosehill last time out and doing all but winning when second to a smart horse. That form is the best of anything in this race so needless to say he will be tough to beat here.
VALUE BET - #1 - Tip Of The Spear
Tip Of The Spear is an Annabel Neasham trained runner who hasn’t been sighted for some time but he does have the talent to be prominent and can hit hard here. He’s had three runs back from a stable for the camp this time in since resuming off of a 19 week spell and whilst he hasn’t done too much in those runs the trainers have been provided key insights into his run style and now gets his chance with the blinkers being thrown on and having had a nice tick over trial in between. Wouldn’t shock at all to see him in the finish.
