Wednesday Racing Tips - Kensington Racecourse 06/09/23

Racing returns to Randwick-Kensington for another cracker midweek card as we are well underway the group 1 races season / spring season and I am keen to pick up some winners as the top NSW stables and Victorian stables send forth runners who look to be in for big Spring preps and some who are coming back from Saturday grade racing. I have gone across the seven race card and picked out a best and next best betting spot of the day as well as a roughie of the day and I am keen to get  stuck into things so follow me below as I outline my best betting spots of the day at Randwick-Kensington!

Kensington R1 - Schweppes (Bm72) (1800m)

Selections:
#4 - Mountain Guest (BEST BET) - $4.60
#3 - Monfelicity  - $3.30
#1 - Tip Of The Spear - $7.00
#7 - Sir Bailey - $4.80

BEST BET - #4 - Mountain Guest (BEST BET)
Mountain Guest looks set to complete the hat trick here third up from a spell and ready to peak. He’s had three runs in this time for John Sargent and has just displayed one of the most dynamic run styles I have seen in quite some time, finding plenty in both his 1400m debut run and 1600m second up run to score under pressure and now steps up to the 1800m third up and set to peak. Top chance at odds.

THE DANGER - #3 - Monfelicity
Current running favourite and justifiably so is David Payne’s Monfelicity who has a special place in my heart, being one of the first horses I really followed in racing. Whilst he hasn’t been racing in his old listed company he seems to have returned in top order for the stable. After needing the run first up he stepped out over the 1800m at the Hawkesbury last time out and got a split at the 250m to sweep away and win nicely before stepping out in Saturday company at Rosehill last time out and doing all but winning when second to a smart horse. That form is the best of anything in this race so needless to say he will be tough to beat here.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Tip Of The Spear
Tip Of The Spear is an Annabel Neasham trained runner who hasn’t been sighted for some time but he does have the talent to be prominent and can hit hard here. He’s had three runs back from a stable for the camp this time in since resuming off of a 19 week spell and whilst he hasn’t done too much in those runs the trainers have been provided key insights into his run style and now gets his chance with the blinkers being thrown on and having had a nice tick over trial in between. Wouldn’t shock at all to see him in the finish.

Kensington R4 - Too Darn Hot @ Darley (Bm72) (1400m)

Selections:
#8 - Silvanito (NEXT BEST) - $4.80
#10 - River Snitty - $6.50
#3 - Yasuke - $10.00
#14 - Ashfall - $5.00

BEST BET - #8 - Silvanito (NEXT BEST)
Silvantino looks like a good thing going for the Godolphin stable and I think will be tough to beat in this field. He’s had three runs back from a spell and has improved with each run and now looks to have really clicked up in his last run where he stepped out over the 1200m at Newcastle and after doing it tough out wide he shifted even wider on the turn and powered away for a super impressive win. He maps now to get a much softer time of things and looks well suited to having a big kick in the straight over the 1400m and onto the wider track now.

THE DANGER - #10 - River Snitty
River Snitty has come back in a huge way for Chris Waller and can easily go on with it, being one of the more interesting runners on the program and is one I will definitely entertain in this race. He resumed off a massive 62 week spell after going away close to a win at Newcastle when racing over the 1300m at the Hawkesbury three weeks ago where he jumped awkwardly and recovered throughout the run to just keep improving and finally hit the front and just kept finding the line to get there for a win late in a very impressive effort. He’s stepping out now second up with plenty more to offer second up and should have heaps for them out to 1400m now.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Yasuke
Yasuke is a star in the making IMO who resumes here for just his second prep at the races and won first up on debut so definitely has the ability to replicate that effort. He went for a spell a winner at Eagle Farm over the Mile and now comes back to racing after a 14 week break and off the back of two sharp trials where he looks to be moving along nicely in both. I am keen to see how he goes here and might have a bet on dependent on how he looks in the yard. Go close.

Kensington R6 - Kia Ora Prague (Bm72) (1150m)

Selections:
#6 - Silentsar - $4.80
#15e - So Audacious - $7.50
#8 - Sister Moon (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $15.00
#5 - Lavish Empire - $6.00

BEST BET - #6 - Silentsar
Silentsar is a runner who looks to have plenty to offer having his second start for the Ryand & Alexiou stable off the back of a 21 week break and having returned in very good order for the stable. He resumed late last month over this distance at Canterbury Park when finding the fence and the lead and having a solid kick in the straight to keep them at bay and win well. He looks to have heaps of improvement off the back of that run being only second up off that long spell and should look the winner a long way here.

THE DANGER - #15e - So Audacious
So Audacious resumes for David Pfieffer here for just his second prep to the races and looks like he should return with a fair bit of intent here. He’s had just the one run back at the end of January where he debuted at Warwick Farm over this trip and looked fantastic when laying out in the straight to get the job done, clock it in a bit of solid time and look green throughout the whole thing which is why I suspect he was spelled. He now comes into this off the back of three solid trials where he looks real revved up and I suspect he will be onto bigger things after this.

VALUE BET - #8 - Sister Moon (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Sister Moon looks like a standout roughie on the program and I think strikes a winnable race here for Kacy Dryden. He went away for a spell after extending his win record to four in a row and recently resumed off of that 12 week break at Canterbury Park where he did a lot of tough work in the run to end up midfield and should now retain a big fitness benefit second up. He’s a proven second up winner so any positive betting moves should be respected and I would be watching for him in the yard.

Jockey Of The Day – James McDonald

A clear top jockey in this meeting is James Mcdonald. He is the best jockey in the country and one of the best in the world. Kensington is his stomping ground and I have already tipped a few of his rides above but I think this looks a particularly good meeting for him. I have highlighted all his rides below:

R1 - #4 - Extreme Spirit - $6.50
R2 - #5 - Atlantic Ocean - $3.00
R3 - #1 - Hollywood Hero - $2.50
R4 - #4 - Lascars - $3.70
R6 - #6 - Arranmore - $3.80
R7 - #3 - Jupitus - $4.00

Multi Tips For Kensington Racecourse

I have opted to make a hybrid between following Jmac and my other top runner of the day in a place multi as there are a lot of smaller fields in some of these midweek races, which makes our chances of picking up the win better and also of having a horse run into the placings. I think that this should be a solid value bet and a fun thing to track over race day.

Best Promotions for Kensington Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
