Kensington R2 - Drinkwise Mdn Plate (1400m)

Selections:
#5 - Pure Alpha (BEST BET) - $1.70
#6 - Sunlord - $5.50
#8 - Equipage - $6.75
#9 - Rip Off - $8.00

BEST BET - #5 - Pure Alpha (BEST BET)
Pretty hard to see anything getting past Chris Waller’s Pure Alpha in the opener and whilst the market is all over him I think that he’s a good bank roll builder for early in the day. This guy made his debut at the end of last year at this track on the course proper when him and the winner defeated the rest of the field comfortably and he now strikes a much softer race. I think he’s a good thing.

THE DANGER - #6 - Sunlord
Sunlord comes back to racing here off of a long spell for John O’Shea and I think is sure to run well in this field. He’s had a whopping five trials for his return and the latest of which was a very sharp placing when running home well with a bunch of intent. He showed plenty of talent in his first two outtings as well and only runs well here for me.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Rip Off
James Cummings sends a couple runners here but I think Rip Off looks like quite a good thing resuming at limit weight and with Kerrin McEvoy aboard. He has had two trials for the return and whilst he has been quietly ridden in both of them I don’t think that means he hasn’t been placed here with a bit of intent, something the stable likes to do.

Kensington R4 - James Squire (Bm64) (1400m)

Selections:
#2 - Nana's Wish - $2.60
#6 - Wolves - $4.80
#4 - Utopian Wine (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.10
#1 - Gold Pattern - $10.00

BEST BET - #6 - Wolves
I think Wolves surely runs well here for the Smith camp despite being a scary horse to back with just the one win in nineteen runs but I think that is largely attributed to poor handling earlier in his career and he does look ready to win now after two very sharp placings to kick off the campaign from a 57 week spell. He’s come back a different horse and after the way he ran home into second last time out it is clear he is ready to peak and win third up, happy to give him a look here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Nana’s Wish
Similar story to Wolves with Nana’s Wish for Maher and Eustace. I think that Nana’s Wish could very well be a good horse but just the one win in nine runs makes me hesitant to back her at the short quote. However, she resumed off of a 20 week spell last time out at Randwick when coming from very wide to run home into third sharply and rates highly off the back of that.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Utopian Wine (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Utopian Wine is shaping up to be a smart horse for Chris Waller with two wins in five career starts and he has been running particularly well since coming off of a little break. He recorded his second career win at Gosford two back before last stepping out over the 1550m at Canterbury and not finding a run until very late in the piece but once he did he powered home very well to place nicely there. Hard fit here, Tommy Berry on, only runs well imo.

Kensington R7 - Tab (Bm64) (1100m)

Selections:
#12 - The Black Cloud (NEXT BEST)- $3.50
#8 - Fire Star - $4.80
#1 - Gently Rolled - $8.00
#2 - Satin And Silk - $9.50

BEST BET - #12 - The Black Cloud (NEXT BEST)
Always scary favourite backing in the last but I think that Joe Pride’s The Black Cloud is a horse that is on the up and I am keen to follow him throughout his career. He debuted at Gosford a couple weeks ago over this trip and damn what a debut it was where he took over in the straight and won with plenty in hand. There’s been a subsequent winner out that race but even if there hadn’t been he was very impressive in winning there and I am excited to see what he does now.

THE DANGER - #8 - Fire Star
Another lightly raced and very sharp looking horse is Fire Star for the Snowden’s whos has already shed the maiden tag and resumed from an 18 week spell last time out at Canterbury over this trip when running home so well from out wide to place third in a very impressive effort. Fitter and with a more economical run in transit this time round she is good enough to win this.

VALUE BET - #1 - Gently Rolled
Hard to knock Gently Rolled for Brett Hayes who has only been unsighted in one of his seven career starts, with two wins aboard already and now getting Jmac aboard for the steer. He is racing first up here and comes into this off the back of two trials where he hasn’t shown much but has been ridden quietly and I think there has to be some level of intent here with Jmac booked and having been scratched from another race for this. Watch the market.

Jockey Of The Day – James McDonald

A clear top jockey in this meeting is James Mcdonald. He is the best jockey in the country and one of the best in the world. Kensington is his stomping ground and I have already tipped a few of his rides above but I think this looks a particularly good meeting for him. I have highlighted all his rides below:

R1 - #4 - Extreme Spirit - $6.50
R2 - #5 - Atlantic Ocean - $3.00
R3 - #1 - Hollywood Hero - $2.50
R4 - #4 - Lascars - $3.70
R6 - #6 - Arranmore - $3.80
R7 - #3 - Jupitus - $4.00

Multi Tips For Kensington Racecourse

I have opted to make a hybrid between following Jmac and my other top runner of the day in a place multi as there are a lot of smaller fields in some of these midweek races, which makes our chances of picking up the win better and also of having a horse run into the placings. I think that this should be a solid value bet and a fun thing to track over race day.

Kensington R2 - #5 - Pure Alpha - WIN $1.12
Kensington R7 - #12 - The Black Cloud - PLC $1.55
Kensington R4 - #4 - Utopian Wine - PLC $2.05

Total Odds = $3.50

Best Promotions for Kensington Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
