Wednesday Racing Tips - Mornington Racecourse 13/12/23

Racing returns to Mornington for another belter eight race midweek card in Victoria and there is $300k on offer across all the racing set to take place tomorrow. I have gone through the card and picked out my three best betting spots so follow me as I run through the card!

BEST BET - #7 - She's Bulletproof (BEST BET)
She’s Bulletproof debuted in a very fast run race at Moonee Valley when she herself clocked a great time and I think that is too good to ignore here even though she is short in the market. She chased hard from three deep in that race to beat all but the winner and now rates highly second up, Craig Will on, she’s the one to beat.

THE DANGER - #9 - Yeronga Songbird (BEST BET) 
Pink Chandon only had the one run before being sent away for a spell for the Moroney camp but that run was full of merit and I think he shapes up well coming back to racing now. That run came at the end of June at Bendigo in the mud when chasing hard the entire straight and closing the race out well to finish runner up. She should be strong in resumption here.

VALUE BET  - #x - Name
Yeronga Songbird should definitely be shorter odds than he has in this field for Peter Moody. He resumed off of a 21 week spell at Kilmore three weeks ago when not getting the easiest of runs in transit before powering home behind a sharp winner in Faithinher to place second there. He shapes up well here off the back of that run and I think with Kah on they can run a good race.

BEST BET - #8 - Walter Spur (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I have a sneaky feeling that Walter Spur resumes a winner here for Gavin Bedggood. He has had three runs for the stable and won his debut for them sharply before producing not the best of efforts down the track and subsequently going away for the spell. He has never been unplaced in his three first up runs, draws a good gate here and gets the booking of Noonan. Well placed.

THE DANGER - #5 - Zouthur
Key danger here for Maher and Eustace in Zouthur who resumed off of a long 44 week break from racing three weeks ago at Ballarat and was very impressive off of such a long break. He set fourth in the run and loomed at the top of the straight before flying home to nearly win and just fall short of the winner who had the gun run. Should improve second up and will be tough to beat.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Scream
Scream hasn’t produced a poor run in his three starts back for the Johnston camp and this should be no different. He won well two back at Bairnsdale and then recorded another runner up placing there before stepping out in a harder race at Moonee Valley last time out and being crowded for a run. Hard fit, Kah on, can hit back here.

BEST BET - #7 - Peace Treaty (NEXT BEST) 
Peace Treaty has to rate highly here for the Freedman camp after resuming off of a 25 week spell two weeks ago, setting fourth in the run, coming on strongly in the straight and just being outkicked at the 100m when he gave way to his first up condition. The in-run splits read very well however and added fitness is all he really needs to be winning which he has now.

THE DANGER - #9 - Likya Way
Likya Way is one of the only representatives for the Godolphin camp at this meeting and needs to be respected stepping out second up after shedding the maiden tag in soft fashion over this trip last time out. He set second and two wide the trip at Kyneton before peeling wider in the straight and kicking home to win well. He didn’t beat much but looks a smart animal and can only improve off of that.

VALUE BET - #6 - Optume
Optume has only won one of her seven career starts but rarely runs a bad race and has contested some much tougher fields than what she meets her first up. She comes back from a 29 week spell here after going away a close runner up placing over this trip at Sandown. The booking of Michael Dee signals intent, think he runs well here.
