#3 - Ferlazzo - $4.00
BEST BET - #1 - Tropicconi
I do think that this is a considered move for Matt Laurie to bring Tropicconi back sharply in grade while he is hard fit into a race like this to pick up a win, boost his confidence and ratings and then progress him slowly back towards where he was. He is coming off the back of a run in a BM78 at Flemington where he was far better than it reads on paper, jumping well, sitting on the speed and just meeting a few fitter / classier horses inside the last 200m
THE DANGER - #6 - Regal Vow
Very interested and keen to see how the flying Regal Vow goes in this, as if he scores nicely here I think he will move into town for his next run. He’s come off a half year spell when resuming two back at Echuca where he was as honest as ever, shifting out and starting his run at the 150 and coming very close into second. He then went out to the 1350m at Geelong where the writing was on the wall and he duly saluted, drawing clear of them inside the last 75m and never being in danger. Still has a fair bit of upside third up and he should make this an interesting race.
VALUE BET - #9 - Amani (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Amani is Pat Carey trained three-year-old who has been progressing very nicely in his lone two starts at the races. Both the runs have come at Pakenham and both have provided themselves as strong form references with four winners emerging from the race he debuted in and another subsequent winner from the race he was last in. When he was second up here he set five deep and wide before staying out there and starting his run on the turn where he looked like he needed just an extra 50m to win but landed up second there. Should be at about peak third up now and looks very good for this.
