Wednesday Racing Tips - Pakenham Racecourse 25/01/23

Racing returns to Pakenham for another Wednesday meeting at Pakenham after an exciting first month of racing at the venue and there look to be some smart types on debut and looking to break maiden. The races range from 1200m to 1600m so I am sure that it will be a solid day of racing. The track is expected to be a good 4 and I expect it to remain in this range. It should make for an exciting race day at Pakenham, follow me below for some bets for the day.

BEST BET - #5 - Lavish Thinker (NEXT BEST)
Quite a storing Maiden to kick us off in what looks like it will be a sit and sprint but bit of a strange map, 1 and 6 to roll far forward the rest to sit back. I think this suits Lavish Thinker who returned to the races over the 1400m at Cranbourne a couple weeks ago and did it tough out wide but showed plenty with a good kick, wants and gets longer here, Zac Spain jumps on and he draws well.

THE DANGER - #8 - Patrick 
Patrick is racing for Ben & JD Hayes second up here after making his debut at the races at Geelong when running a smart race into third over the 1400m three weeks ago and a winner has already come from that race. They didn’t run it all that quick that time but he maps well and gets Dee aboard.   

VALUE BET  - #2 - Chihuly 
Chihuly resumed off a quick let up and caught my eye there two weeks ago when placing second over the 1500m when showing a good turn of foot but just missing out on the win. He is better for the experience there and my only concern is if he gets too far back. Newitt aboard gives me some more confidence though and I am interested to see what happens come race day.

BEST BET - #10 - Radstar - (NEXT BEST)
I really do think Radstar is talented, more so than the script reads. He raced at this track and trip on debut two weeks back and they didn’t go all that fast there but he really showed late in the piece that he has a potential engine under the hood, running one of the best last 600s of the day. Carberry has already picked up a few wins this year and Allen jumps aboard. He maps to sit just off a decent tempo and run hard late.

THE DANGER - #1 - Kurolation
Kurolation has had a few runs under his belt this prep and looks to have hit form, placing in his last three runs when not always having the best runs of the race but consistently showing a good turn of foot and only being nabbed late. He draws wide but there isn’t much speed in this race and if Mott can steer him well I think he can find the lead and hold the likes of his company off.

VALUE BET  - #11 - Subculture (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
I don’t know if subculture will win this but he is over the odds in my opinion here. This field is quite soft and whilst he hasn’t been running any astonishing times I think that third up and out to 1600m is positive off the back of a second up run at Mornington. He maps to potentially get some cover near the speed and with Stackhouse aboard he can run a top 4 race.

BEST BET - #7 - Aperol Blitz (BEST BET)
Aperol Blitz looks to have something on these. He was a convincing winner at his debut at the races when supported in the market into a $3.5 favourite. He didn’t have the run of the race there but wound up on the straight and fired over them in the last 100m. Made his own luck there can do it again and I think if that’s the case he will remain undefeated.

THE DANGER - #1 - Arctic Eagle
Arctic Eagle has been strong since winning second up over the 1200m at Mornington when seeming to have plenty of upside. She then went on to this track and remained over the 1200m, giving another impressive kick and just narrowly going down in the last 300m. Top chance to win again, the query is the distance.

VALUE BET - #3 - Sheer Class 
Sheer Class races for his second outing off a quick let up for Ben & JD Hayes. Most recently raced at Benalla over this distance when a $5.00 chance in the market and looked good there showing a good turn of foot to only just be gunned down late by some smart types. There’s already been another winner emerge since that race three weeks ago and doesn’t meet too much harder competition here.

The in form Blake Shinn comes to Pakenham to race for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Nick Ryan and he gets a great looking booking of rides, I think he has a good chance to pick up two if not more wins and am excited to see what he does at Pakenham on Wednesday.

My multi for Wednesday at Pakenham racecourse is a bit of a hybrid between following Blake Shinn , the top stables and also carefully selecting where to place win or place bets. I think that this is a great advantage of multi betting and I hope we can pick up a bit of value at the midweek Pakenham races.
