Wednesday Racing Tips - Sandown Hillside Racecourse 10/01/24

Racing comes back to Sandown Hillside this Wednesday for a solid eight race card with almost half a million dollars prize money available across the card and I am very keen to get stuck into this card and have picked out my best betting spots and run through them below. There looks to be some super progressive horses on the card tomorrow so follow me below!

BEST BET - #4 - Amerigo Man (NEXT BEST)
Amerigo Man has only had the one career start for Peter Moody and Kathy Coleman but shapes up very well off the back of the career debut and I think he can make an impact here. The debut came mid last month at Cranbourne over the 1200m when leading and handling pressure very well in the straight to only find one better in a horse that got the gun trail in. I think that race fitter now and from another good gate he will be out front and hard to run down from there.

THE DANGER - #7 - Salchow 
Salchow’s racing debut was another that’s very hard to ignore here and the way the Nick Ryan is going right now I think this horse is going to be right up there. He had an enormous debut at Bendigo a couple weeks ago when doing a bit wrong in the first half of the race before finding himself having drifted out wide and then knuckling down to absolutely fly home from the rear of the field and finish second there. Well placed now with plenty of improvement to come.

VALUE BET  - #11 - Belle Inferno
Belle Inferno has had just the one career start for Maher and Eustace and I think it was quite an impressive debut that took place in higher grade than this as well. He stepped out at Flemington three weeks ago when running home very nicely in an effort that saw the first four finish with a huge gap to fifth onwards. There’s been three horses who have won again since then, form’s stacking well and she should be prominent here.

BEST BET - #8 - Greyt Mumma (BEST BET)
You would have to think that Greyt Mumma just wins this. To be fair that is something that I said when she resumed from a 24 week spell last time out at The Valley but she did get unlucky for a run there for a long time and when she got clear air it was too late to win but it was an impressive return to racing albeit only being able to place third as favourite. Market’s all over her and with even luck she wins now.

THE DANGER - #1 - Berry Bubbly 
Berry Bubbly doesn’t win out of turn but at the same time is in pretty good form and I could see her getting the job done again this campaign if Greyt Mumma fails to fire. He stepped out over The Valley sprint two back and took over inside the 200m for a very strong win then before leading and only going down late last time out at that same course. I think he rates very well back at a true sprinting trip and can win again now.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Who Shot Suzy
One I can entertain at longer odds is Simon Zahra’s Who Shot Suzy who looks to be at about her peak fitness fourth up here and I think will be dangerous with the right kind of run. She was three weeks between runs when last stepping out at Flemington in solid company and sitting second outside the leader, still giving a strong kick in the straight when third. Rates highly off the back of that and has been working towards a win this campaign.

BEST BET - #9 - Moveforlex
Moveforlex has had a pretty awesome start to the career for Patrick Payne with three wins and two runner up placings in seven runs and rates highly coming back to racing here off of a six week break after producing a rare average effort. It was when resuming from a much longer break and now he comes here having been revved up and ready to win again. Go close.

THE DANGER - # 7 - Awash
Awash just keeps putting in good performances for Maher and Eustace so it’s hard to knock him here and after putting together a few sharp wins on the bounce he resumed off of a little three week break from racing at the Valley last time out when laying out a bit in the straight and finishing well behind Flash Feeling. I think he did a bit wrong there and can atone now.

VALUE BET - #13 - Star Vega (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Star Vega wasn’t fully tested when stepping out for the Freedman’s last time at Flemington where he was held up from the 500m to 200m and then held up again until the 50m mark in a total forget run. The run prior was very sharp at The Valley when running home powerfully into second and looking like he was ready to peak so I think he comes here with that in mind.
