Sandown Hillside R3 - Tobin Bros. Celebrating (Bm70) (1600m)

Selections:
#3 - Ferlazzo (BEST BET) - $2.25
#1 - Perfect Ending - $3.50
#5 - Regal Vow - $5.50
#4 - Frankly Elegant - $6.50

BEST BET - #3 - Ferlazzo - (BEST BET)
I am not keen to jump off Ferlazzo just yet. The Price and Kent trained runner has only been running well in his four starts back from a spell this time in for the camp. He ran a close second placing at Ballarat first up when he really should have won but was held up at a crucial time and then subsequently saluted in his next outing at the same course. He has been around the mark since and his last run was at the Mile which should have him set to go for this. The blinkers go on and with a decent steer from Shinn he should be very hard to beat here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Perfect Ending
The Cumani trained Perfect Ending is a very real threat in this field and is hard to ignore based on the record he is starting to stack up. He’s having his debut prep for the stable and comes into this race after four runs this time in, having hit outstanding form in his last three with two wins and very close placing that he easily could have won with more luck. Bates has been with him all prep and sticks and as long as Perfect Ending has more in the tank he can take this out.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Regal Vow
No knock on the Chris Littlefield trained Regal Vow who we were on a few weeks ago at Geelong when he was just second up in his prep but he recovered from an awkward jump to improve all run and eventually power over them inside the last 75m for a meritful win. He had excuses last time out at Mornington and can be forgiven, should look very competitive here now.

Sandown Hillside R4 - Ive > (Bm70) (1000m)

Selections:
#8 - Starlea (NEXT BEST) - $5.00
#3 - Miss Balvenie - $5.00
#1 - Cotel (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.50
#5 - Viviane - $8.50

BEST BET - #8 - Starlea - (NEXT BEST)

Starlea looks like the straight bat option and I struggle to see a reason not to speck her at ~$5.00. The Mick Ellerton runner resumed off of a 19 week spell at Cranbourne in the mud just shy of three weeks ago where he was ever so impressive, racing just off the speed three wide with no cover where he just continued to wear them down and got there late for a gutsy win. He still has big upside to come second up now, is proven secon up (4: 1-2-1) and I see him only running well here.

THE DANGER - #3 - Miss Balvenie
Miss Balvenie should run well here if we see enough sting out of the ground. He’s got an impressive 34% strike rate on soft tracks and looks to make sharp improvements second up now. He resumed at this track last week as favourite and jumped awkwardly, working to recover through the run and I think that effort just told late when he whacked away in the straight but didn’t have too much for them. He should get a much softer run now and Shinn jumps on for the ride which is a big upgrade. Go close.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Cotel
Cotel might want one more but as his best he has lengths on these. The Peter Moody runner resumed off an 18 week spell off the back of a Successful summer prep at this track three weeks ago and jumped awkwardly, setting deep there and improving throughout the run but I liked the way he found the line late in the piece when he was seemingly just getting warm. He sticks at the distance which is a slight query as he is generally looking for longer than this but my guess is they try get him warm just before the turn and have him thump home from there.

Sandown Hillside R6 - Senet Gamb. Law Experts (Bm70) (1300m)

Selections:
#12 - Mr Mojo Risin' (NEXT BEST) - $6.50
#14 - Liberty Steps - $6.50
#3 - Ice Pick Nick - $9.00
#1 - Scantoon - $11.00

BEST BET - #12 - Mr Mojo Risin' (NEXT BEST)
The Forsman trained Mr Mojo Risin’ has to be the leading contender here. He’s had three runs back from a spell after saluting dominantly first up at Avondale he came over from NZ to Flemington where he was never headed but still worked home strongly to finish just behind the placegetters in a stronger race than this. He then overcame a suck run last time out on the worst part of the track where he looked the winner a long way and just found one better late who had the perfect run / on a faster bit of the course. He gets in very well at the weight with the claim from Pinn and I think he wins this.

THE DANGER - #14 - Liberty Steps
Liberty Steps is one who has a lot of upside on most in this field and I am keen on her prospects. She resumed off of a long 27 week spell three weeks ago at Sale and was very good there in defeat when jumping badly and missing the start but driving to the front hard to recover and showing massive heart to fight, only going down to place second very late behind the in-form Le Derriere. He looks to have returned in great order off the back of that and is proven second up. Think he only runs well here.

VALUE BET - #3 - Ice Pick Nick
IIce Pick Nick has been up around the mark for awhile now but just keeps going so well for the Maher and Eustace camp that I don’t think I can’t include her here. He’s had a twelve run campaign dating back to late November last year and has picked up three wins and a bunch of close placings, being patiently given breaks between runs to retain fitness and have ample recovery time and it has been a working strategy for him as he continues to hold form. His overall splits are some of the best amongst this field and if Hefel can slide forward from the draw without much speed around him he can be in a good spot on the speed and will be strong from there.

He has also received the Victoria Racing Club's Champion Jockey Award in two consecutive seasons (2019/20 and 2020/21), underscoring his reputation as one of Victoria's finest jockeys. He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Sandown Hillside Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

R1 - #2 - El Patroness - $2.45
R3 - #6 - Manhattan Thunder - $12.00

Multi Tips For Sandown Hillside Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #4 - Good And Proper - PLC $2.20
R3 - #4 - She Dances - PLC $1.45
R5 - #9 - Running By - PLC $1.20

Total Odds = $3.82
$50 Stake = $191.40 Return!

Best Promotions for Sandown Hillside Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
