Wednesday Racing Tips - Sandown Hillside Racecourse 19/07/23

Metro Racing returns to Sandown Hillside for a familiar midweek meeting that sees eight high level races contested at the course, each for a share of $55k prize money. For a change there are no maiden races on the card, all the races (bar the 1st which is in open grade) are to be contested in BM70 grade or higher and with just one staying race on the card and the remainder to be run at mid/sprint distance I am very keen for what looks to be an exciting day ahead of us at Sandown Hillside. Follow me below as I outline the day!

Sandown Hillside R2 - Evergreen Turf (Bm64) (1600m)

Selections:
#7 - Wonderwall - $5.00
#8 - The Devil In Her - $2.70
#3 - Madalsa (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $10.00
#4 - Fine Rebel - $7.50

BEST BET - #7 - Wonderwall
Wonderwall should be going close here and all things considered if he gets a decent run, which I back he will with Cartwright aboard in a small field, he should be winning this. He resumed off a long 44 week spell four runs back when fighting hard bravely all run to only find one better late which was the same story next outing before shedding the maiden tag two runs back in style in the heavy at Seymour. Last time out he was luckless in running, being forced to do it tough and fading late in stronger company. He comes back to a smaller field now and gets a nice claim, maps to settle just behind the speed and if he gets clear air on the turn he likely wins.

THE DANGER - #8 - The Devil In Her
The Devil In Her looks like a good up and coming horse for Patrick Payne and has to be respected coming from the stable and being under Billy Egan’s steering alone. She returned to racing in the Heavy at Tatura off a long spell and came on from last and three wide to power over the field in the straight in a bold return to racing. She then came here last time out where she didn’t get a split until very late and once she did she bolted through the field to finish just outside the placings in fourth. I think that she is a true swimmer and that is my only knock is we get a soft 5 tomorrow, more on the good side but she hasn’t run a bad race yet this prep.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Madalsa (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Madalsa is one of the more interesting runners in the field and one that I am keen to see how she goes here. She debuted in the Summer and won a 1600m Ararat maiden where she didn’t beat a whole lot on debut but the way she did was impressive and the time was good. She then took a huge step up in competition to the G3 Adrian Knox Stakes at Randwick in the Heavy over the 2000m where she was wide throughout, having to work in the run and was eased out of it. She has since come over to the Sandhu stable and now returns to racing under Gaudray’s steering, I think she’s going to run well.

Sandown Hillside R3 - Ive> (Bm70) (2400m)

Selections:
#9 - Zaynudin (BEST BET) - $5.50
#2 - Dillian - $2.90
#5 - Christmas - $6.50
#1 - Khoekhoe - $14.00

BEST BET - #9 - Zaynudin (BEST BET)
I do imagine that the combination between Zaynudin being third up, out to 2400m and onto this course will allow him to come on strongly enough from the back of the field to claim this race. The well bred Dabernig Irish import is in the midst of his first prep down under and has been running well. After debuting in Aus at Swan Hill he went to a Warracknabeal 2000m where he was awesome from off the rail three back in the straight to find the line with real purpose and beat all but the leader who had the gun run / was hard fit. I think third up now he presents with plenty more upside and out in trip, Shinn aboard… The setup looks right.

THE DANGER - #2 - Dillian
Maher and Eustace rarely get it wrong when it comes to their staying horses and their imports and this Irish import looks to be no exception himself. He had his Australian debut off a 24 week spell at Warwick Farm back at the end of May over the 1600m where he missed the start but came on strong at the end of the race before being given a 6 week break and coming back to racing three weeks ago at this course over the 2100m where he came from well back in the field for a big run to see him end up third. Out in trip again, third up and with Stockdale aboard I don’t see this horse being out of the placings.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Christmas
Christmas is a French import for the Presuker stable that, if you have been following our free horse racing tips for awhile, you would have seen in my Geelong tips two or so weeks ago when he stepped out to a 2470m in BM58 grade and dominantly saluted over the field, getting a split from on the pace at the 300m and storming lengths clear of the field then. He looks well poised to make it back to back wins, albeit stepping up to a proper contest now.

Sandown Hillside R5 - Ladbroke It (Bm70) (1000m)

Selections:
#3 - Field Of Flutes (NEXT BEST) - $6.00
#10 - The Brill Building - $7.50
#7 - Bitoftheblarney - $8.50
#5 - Pereille - $3.50

BEST BET - #3 - Field Of Flutes (NEXT BEST)
Field of Flutes doesn’t know how to run a bad race and I am confident measures up here in what looks to be a Saturday race in disguise for a few in this field. She is a lightly raced horse for the Maher and Eustace stable that has already recorded two career wins and three placings in just her six career starts and looks to be in good stead for this assignment off the back of an honest run in a truly Heavy track at Werribee last time out where she ran on well to place there. She gets back on top of the ground, in the same track conditions where one of her wins came, is hard fit, well weighted with the claim from Hefel and should slide forward from barrier six.

THE DANGER - #10 - The Brill Building
The Brill Building takes a step down in depth for this assignment and I don’t see him running poorly with plenty more to offer second up here off of a long spell for Phillip Stokes. The three year old is in his second run of his second prep for the stable after resuming in Saturday Grade at Caulfield in a 3-Y-O open contest where he chased solidly all through the straight to finish behind Kin and Rain Lord in a very impressive first up run. He will have plenty to offer here second up and well back in depth. I think he only goes well here.

VALUE BET - #7 - Bitoftheblarney
I am pretty keen to see how Waller’s latest Kiwi import goes in this race having just the one run to go by but it was certainly good enough that we have to keep our eyes on the horse now. he debuted three weeks back at Werribee on a genuine Heavy track where he looked to relish the conditions, improving from four deep in the run and shifting wide on the turn to get a split and power away for a big win under John Allen in those conditions. He looks like a genuine swimmer so interested to see how he goes atop the ground now but Waller rarely places runners poorly and I imagine he’s going to be strong here.

Multi Tips For Sandown Hillside Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #3 - Madalsa  - PLC $2.90

Best Promotions for Sandown Hillside Racecourse

Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.
