Wednesday Racing Tips - Sandown Hillside Racecourse 26/07/23

A huge midweek metro meeting is set for Sandown Hillside this Wednesday with eight races on the card that sees an open race over the 1400m to kick us off that is followed by seven strong BM70 contests that should display some progressive horses for the top Victorian and outer state stables that look to hit things hard in the Winter / Spring. All races are to be contested for a share of $55k and I have picked out some betting spots I am particularly keen on so follow me below as I outline my best bets for this Wednesday’s racing at Sandown Hillside.

Sandown Hillside R2 - Evergreen Turf (Bm64) (1000m)

Selections:
#5 - Twin Perfection (BEST BET) - $4.40
#8 - Luna Cat - $3.20
#1 - Bifrost - $9.50
#3 - Tax Free Prophet - $9.00

BEST BET - #5 - Twin Perfection (BEST BET)
Twin Perfection looks like quite a high class animal for Phillip Stokes and I think he likely takes this out. He’s only been out of the placings in three of his ten career starts and has already picked up three wins. One of those came three weeks ago on the Pakenham Synthetic where he set fourth in the run and found a lane inside to drive to the front and power clear at the 200m for a soft win. He picked up a win two before then off the Synthetic at Pakenham so will handle the ground. He’s hard fit, flying, maps to be up on the speed and will be tough to beat.

THE DANGER - #8 - Luna Cat
The market is giving a lot of respect to the B & J Hayes trained Luna Cat and whilst I understand it he is a bit too short for my liking in such a competitive field. However, he has been running in some tougher contests than this and looks well placed to pick up the win first up here, resuming from a summer prep that ended in him running a very game third placing to Circle Of Magic at this course over the 1300m. He’s likely looking for longer but will be launching late and can take this out.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Bifrost
Bifrost is a bomb fresh horse for the Browne stable that can resume with a big win here. He hasn’t been seen at the races since ending off his Summer prep in the Grand Handicap Sprint at Flemington that saw him produce an end of prep run when finishing down the track there. He’s got two fresh wins and a very game second placing in five first up runs and one of those came last prep at this track / trip. Don’t discount him.

Sandown Hillside R4 - Lockettled.Au (Bm70) (1400m)

Selections:
#2 - Coriolis (NEXT BEST) - $3.20
#4 - She's Pretty Rich - $6.50
#3 - Discerning - $4.80
#8 - Turf Two - $10.00

BEST BET - #2 - Coriolis (NEXT BEST)
Coriolis looks well priced for James Cummings and whilst I don’t think there’s an awful lot of value going around on him I do think that he likely takes this out. As usually is the case with Godolphin runners, he’s come back to racing in lethal form, winning two and being unlucky to place in one. The last run saw him race at this track over the 1200m on the same soft ground we get tomorrow where Heffel sat off a hot speed and pulled him out wide to start a big run down the straight and claim the race. He looks astutely placed off that effort, fit and ready for the trip.

THE DANGER - #4 - She's Pretty Rich
She’s Pretty Rich has been up awhile but is certainly going well enough to take this out if they get the tactics right. The key to her seems to be affording her small breaks between races and she also steps back for her first run out of Saturday grade in a long time. Last time out she raced over this distance at Caulfield when being held up at the 500m and losing half a length and when she got clear air she powered home into the placings and likely could have won that with a more economical run. She draws barrier one here and if they can use that to her advantage she will be hard to beat.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Turf Two
Turf Two hasn’t been out of the placings in all four of his career starts and whilst all three of his last runs have come at Heavy regional tracks he does look well placed taking the step up to metro grade hard fit now and in form. He raced last time out a fortnight ago at Donald over the 1350m where he led along the rail and kicked clear in the straight for a dominant front running win. He gets in very nicely weighted at just 54kg with Pinn on for the assignment and despite the wide draw he can find the front and be too strong again.

Sandown Hillside R6 - Ladbrokes Odds Surge (Bm70) (1600m)

Selections:
#5 - Ellen's Licence - $5.50
#2 - Tasman Park - $4.20
#1 - Regal Azmon (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $9.50
#7 - Presser - $7.50

BEST BET - #5 - Ellen's Licence
I think Ellen’s License likely finds her best here for Patrick Payne third up here and off the back of two meritful runs. He resumed off of a long 29 week spell at Donald mid last month over the 1350m where he came from just behind the leaders on the turn to kick clear in the straight and hold the field safely there. He was three weeks between runs when racing last time out at the Lakeside course here where he peaked just a bit too early in the run after looking the winner in the straight and was swamped late. I think with Williams on, hard-fit third up and out to 1600m from barrier three are all big ticks and he gets the nod from me.

THE DANGER - #2 - Tasman Park
Tasman Park is always dangerous for Mick Moroney and looks well placed in this field. He’s had three runs back from a twenty week spell and has looked dangerous in each of them. The most recent run saw him race here on the Lakeside course on a Heavy track where he tracked the speed and joined them at the 100m when fighting hard to the line to just go down second late. His splits read very well for this assignment and I think that he is a real winning threat.

VALUE BET - #1 - Regal Azmon (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Regal Azmon is one of the more interesting runners in this race and can add to his already outstanding record with another win here. He’s won four from nine of his starts and run a close second in one of them and last time out he resumed off of a twenty three week spell at Sale over the 1400m where he recorded a massive return to racing, coming from six deep to power over the field in the straight and win authoritatively. He’s second up now, with massive upside out to this distance range and he will be launching late.

He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Sandown Hillside Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

Multi Tips For Sandown Hillside Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #5 - Twin Perfection - $1.65
R4 - #2 - Coriolis - $1.50
R6 - #1 - Regal Azmon - $2.80

Best Promotions for Sandown Hillside Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.
