Wednesday Racing Tips - Sandown Lakeside Racecourse 10/04/24

We have a bumper eight race card set for Sandown Lakeside tomorrow and we should see some very nice types from the top Victorian and out of state stables either making their debuts or early into their preps who are well into the Spring racing season. The majority of the races are in mid distance ranges which is always exciting, most of these races will be contested in BM70 / BM64 grade. I have outlined my best betting spots on the card so follow me below!

Sandown Lakeside R1 - Sportsbet Jockey Watch Mdn Plate (1400m)

Selections:
#8 - Our Sassy Lady (NEXT BEST) - $2.90
#4 - Makdane - $2.70
#3 - Gypsy Cove - $15.00
#5 - Victory Command  - $4.40

BEST BET - #8 - Our Sassy Lady (NEXT BEST)
I really like the look of Our Sassy Lady in the opening race of the day. She first jumped out alongside Autumn  Storm where he had her covered but it was his second test this prep and I think he was too forward. She led and won a trial in NZ last October and looked very good there and then recently won a 1200m jump out when looking fantastic and riding the speed. I think she has been wound up for this and should be running well here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Makdane
Makdane is another who shapes up very well and should be quite tough to get past here for Mick Kent after returning to racing the way he did at the end of last month when stepping out at Cranbourne in a sharp $100k maiden where he came from 2 lengths off the pace and chased hard the entire straight to just miss late when second to another smart looking horse. He should retain a stack of benefit off of that run and looks like the leading contender here.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Gypsy Cove
Gypsy Cove is the only other that appeals at longer odds for me. He debuted back in November last year at Pakenham where he was stuck behind the speed but as the race went on he looked to really be building into it and made steady ground out wide to finish midfield. He’s had a couple jump outs to lead him back into racing but Mark Zahra aboard was what made me look his way in terms of intent from the stable.

Sandown Lakeside R4 - Tile Importer (Bm70) (2100m)

Selections:
#3 - Makrana (BEST BET) - $3.30
#4 - Into You - $2.45
#2 - Dane On Tour  - $13.00
#5 - Pink Chandon - $3.30

BEST BET - #3 - Makrana (BEST BET)
I think that Makrana is a leading contender here for the Kavangh’s and shapes up very well on the back up here despite facing some honest customers. He picked up two easy wins as favourite before stepping out in the Country Oaks and proving he was here to stay when easily closing off the best in the race to finish second. He looks to be near the front of this and with Shinn’s steering and hard fitness he shapes up as the one to beat.

THE DANGER - #4 - Into You
Market is specking Into You coming way down in grade here after stepping out in a Group Two at The Valley being the Alister Clark where he was never a winning chance, shuffled deep and wide but really found the line from out wide well when finishing midfield trailing in powerfully from the rear of the field. He’s hard fit, this is lengths easier and Alana Kelly knows him well.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Dane On Tour
I have always been a fan of Dane On Tour and if you’ve been following me awhile I am sure you’d know that but his win record is making it harder and harder to be as bullish on him as I once was. He can never be counted out however and comes here taking a jump up in trip from the mile at Pakenham a few weeks ago and whilst he hasn’t been seen at this trip before I trust the Feek camp know what they’re doing and am interested to see how this guy goes.

Sandown Lakeside R5 - Sportsbet Fast Form (Bm64) (2100m)

Selections:
#2 - Look Sharpish (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.50
#7 - Amphactor  - $3.60
#3 - Kentucky Nick - $2.60
#6 - Sacred Eagle - $6.00

BEST BET - #2 - Look Sharpish (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Looks Sharpish appears to be continuing to progress with each run for the Corstens camp and really got going last time out when second up from a 19 week spell at Kerang and coming from last and two wide in the run to drive through along the fence and power home the best in the field for a big and gutsy win. He now gets a good claim from Clarke to keep him well weighted, will only be fitter and should relish the rise in trip here.

THE DANGER - #7 - Amphactor
I saw someone talking about Amphactor and I think after looking into him you can be very forgiving of his run last time out when completely against the shape of the race and having to do it tough on a hopeless part of the track when still sticking on well. He was brilliant prior to then, juice in the track only aids his cause and I think he runs very well here.

VALUE BET - #6 - Sacred Eagle
Definitely in with a shot is Sacred Eagle for the Wilde camp who comes here off the back of a 1700m start at Warrnambool at the end of March when swinging wide on the turn from not too deep in the run and racing up to eyeball the leader at the 200m, fighting hard in the straight to only be outgunned late. That was a very strong run and with Egan aboard he should be even better here.

Multi Tips For Sandown Lakeside Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

Best Promotions for Sandown Lakeside Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
