Wednesday Racing Tips - Sandown Lakeside Racecourse 12/07/23

We have a bumper eight race card set for Sandown Lakeside tomorrow and we should see some very nice types from the top Victorian and out of state stables either making their debuts or early into their preps who look towards big winter seasons. The majority of the races are in sprint - mid distance ranges which is always exciting and a bunch of these races will be contested in BM70 grade which makes them honest contests. I have outlined my best betting spots on the card so follow me below!

Sandown Lakeside R1 - Become An Mrc Member Hcp (1300m)

Selections:
#6 - Spellmaster (NEXT BEST) - $4.00
#2 - Spring Eagle - $6.00
#4 - Double Glazed - $5.50

BEST BET - #6 - Spellmaster (NEXT BEST)
Not an awful lot to go by with these but I am pretty keen on the Busittin and Young trained juvenile in Spellmaster who looks to have a good shot of shedding the maiden tag at just start number two. He debuted in the Heavy going at Bendigo a fortnight ago where he joined the leaders at the 200m and fought hard to the line to beat all but the winner there in a bold effort. He draws out wide but it’s a small field and should have no issues crossing, I think they will ride him more forward and he can be too strong from out front.

THE DANGER - #2 - Spring Eagle
Spring Eagle is racing back from the City and rates highly against these off the back of his three career starts this far when shedding the maiden tag easily in a nothing race at Sale before stepping out to race at Caulfield and then Flemington last time out over the 1200m where he was held up at 350-250 m easing wider and then worked home strongly into fourth. He is hard fit, takes a step back in depth / grade and should run well here.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Spirit Of Nurai
Spirit of Nurai is a well bred juvenile for the Price and Kent stable who looked very strong on debut and I am definitely keen to follow throughout his next few runs. The debut run came at Donald just under a month ago over the 1200m where he chased nicely along the fence and hit the line hard at the 150m after being held up near the 400m to eventually nearly claim the race and just missed there by half a head on the line. He gets the winkers on now which should sharpen him up now and has plenty of upside to offer second up here. I am quite keen on his prospects.

Sandown Lakeside R3 - Tobin Brothers (Bm70) (1400m)

Selections:
#5 - Beour Bay - $7.00
#3 - Ellen's Licence - $2.40
#1 - Electric Belle (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)- $7.50
#4 - Star Mistress- $9.00

BEST BET - #5 - Beour Bay
I am pretty keen on Beour Bay for the Nichols stable here and we had her two back at the beginning of last month at Mornington over the 1200m where she was just third up then and made it three wins from three for the prep before coming to this track last time out where she nearly made it four from four but just missed late on a true Heavy track. She is hard fit, gets in nicely weighted after Gaudray’s claim and should be hard to beat with her toe back above the ground again.

THE DANGER - #3 - Ellen's Licence
Wow it’s been an interesting career thus far for the Patrick Payne trained Ellen’s License who has only been unplaced in one of her six career starts and has got the money in three of them. She resumed off a long 29 week spell at Donald over the 1350m and was dominant there, after leading them out having a strong kick to easily hold all at bay. She should have plenty to offer second up here and think under Campbell’s steering she only runs well.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Electric Belle (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Electric Belle ran some cracking races in town last preparation and picked up a win and close placings in strong Benchmark grade before going back to the paddock. She resumed off of an 18 week spell at Caulfield just shy of three weeks ago now in Saturday grade where she set back in the field and improved throughout the run before shifting out wide late to start a run and when she got clear air she motored home to beat all but the smart winner in Skywolf. That should hold her in good stead for this assignment and has won second up before.

Sandown Lakeside R7 - Ladbrokes Odds Surge (Bm70) (1200m)

Selections:
#7 - The Hass (BEST BET)- $4.80
#6 - Brave Star - $7.00
#12 - Catalina Black Cat - $16.00
#5 - Blow In - $9.50

BEST BET - #7 - The Hass (BEST BET)
An exciting and high level contest to close out the day for us but I am keen to be in the corner of the Sandhu prodigy, The Hass, who looks to have come back in outstanding order for the stable. His first two runs saw him disqualified due to Pinn’s DQ’s but both the runs were very strong before coming to this track in the Heavy going two weeks ago where he sat just off the speed before joining the lead at the 200m and fighting hard to just find one better in noted swimmer Sig-Positano who is a class animal herself. The form clearly reads very well for this, he’s hard fit, flying and will be tough to beat.

THE DANGER - #6 - Brave Star
Phillip Stokes looks to have a very good thing going in Brave Star who came to the stable at the beginning of the year from the Corstens’ and all you can do is win which is what he has done in his two career starts for the stable. Both of the runs have come on genuine heavy tracks at Werribee and in both he has just been far too strong to the line for them and is a clear swimmer. I am keen to see how he goes third up here, hard fit but back on top of the ground a bit.

VALUE BET - #12 - Catalina Black Cat
Catalina Black Cat I’m not sure if she has been going well enough to win this stepping up in town now but she can definitely fill a first four spot. She took a few runs to get going but once she did wow she has been putting together some sharp runs. She ran in the Heavy at Seymour a couple weeks back where she was wide and on pace throughout and kept finding the line to only be gunned down in the final strides. She then won next time out at the track in the heavy again and was very strong, leading and kicking hard never in doubt. I think she can go on with it now.

Multi Tips For Sandown Lakeside Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

Sandown Lakeside R1 - #6 - Spellmaster  -  PLC $1.65
Sandown Lakeside R3 - #1 - Electric Belle- PLC $2.50
Sandown Lakeside R8 - #7 - The Hass - PLC $2.00

Best Promotions for Sandown Lakeside Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
