Wednesday Racing Tips - Sandown Lakeside Racecourse 28/06/23

Midweek racing returns to Sandown Lakeside off the back of a very exciting Saturday meeting at Caulfield in Victoria and we have quite a big meeting tomorrow with nearly $500,000 of prize money on offer across the eight races on the card. Most of the races will be contested in BM70 grade or higher with the majority of races being over sprint distance, as such tomorrow at Sandown should have a couple Saturday races in disguise that will make this a great day I am confident. Follow me below as I outline my best betting spots for Sandown Lakeside racecourse this Wednesday!

Sandown Lakeside R2 - Tile Importer (Bm70) (1600m)

Selections:
#15 - Time Quest (BEST BET)  - $3.20
#11 - Mathew - $7.50
#13 - Ivan's Hero - $10.00
#10 - Irish Rockstar - $9.50

BEST BET - #15 - Time Quest (BEST BET)
The Matty Smith trained Time Quest is heading down south after just his two starts for the stable in NSW and only four career starts overall in which he hasn’t run a bad race, placing second in three of the runs and winning his debut run for the stable just over five weeks ago over the 1400m in good fashion before placing runner up at the same track / trip in his next run. I think he will relish getting the extra trip and shouldn’t face too much trouble from heading down south now. Shinn’s on, can’t see them going badly.

THE DANGER - #11 - Mathew
Matthew looks like a good thing going for Patrick Payne who has had her issues over time but in just the four runs that span all the way back to March last year he’s won two and came runner up in one. The only race in which he was out of the winners \ 2nd position was a super strong 2000m race at The Valley. He resumed three weeks ago off a long 43 week spell at Echuca and was dominant there, albeit doing a bit wrong through the run he had far too much class for them. Shapes up well here.

VALUE BET  - #13 - Ivan's Hero
I can’t seem to get it right with Ivan’s Hero, when I am on him he doesn’t fire and when I count him out, like his last run, he puts it all together and gets it right. In saying that I can’t discount him in this field as he resumed off a 10 week break last time out at Sale and looks to have come back in very good order for the Waller stable, coming from off the pace there to race clear of them inside the last 100m for a very strong win. He’s a proven second up horse and will be sure to run well here.

Sandown Lakeside R4 - Ive > (Bm70) (1300m)

Selections:
#2 - Beour Bay (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $8.00
#3 - Cuban Link - $3.80
#6 - Miss Verbier  - $8.50
#4 - Defiant Diva - $7.50

BEST BET - #2 - Beour Bay (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I think that Beour Bay can remain undefeated since joining the Nichols stable back in April this year after which he returned to racing at Wodonga over the 1100m and was far too good for them there, saluting easily by quite a few lengths margin. He then took on more weight at Pakenham when speeding from out wide to lead and again saluted easily. Last time out he took on his hardest contest in this grade at Mornington but again was just too strong as he kept grinding down the leader all run. Should be hard fit fourth up and hardest to beat now if ever.

THE DANGER - #3 - Cuban Link
Cuban Link is always dangerous for Greg Eurell but I just am not sure how well he is going this time in. He’s had four runs since coming back from a spell and the majority of them have been up in BM78 grade on Saturday at Flemington to be fair but he hasn’t really been headed in any of those. However, he dropped back in grade last time out when racing on the Hillside here and set three deep with no cover off the pace, chasing hard the entire straight to overcome a super tough run and end up third. He is definitely fit, meets similar competition to that last run and my only query is how wide he draws again and how much effort it will take to overcome the run. Will look the winner at least some of the way undoubtedly.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Miss Verbier
Miss Verbier is shooting out for another win and gets a big chance here in this field under Blake Shinn’s steering. She resumed from a 23 week spell at Kyneton where she didn’t care about being three wide with no cover all trip and easily overcame the run to score well there. She then made it two from two when stepping onto the Heavy at Cranbourne over the 1200m when storming home down the home straight after being held up a couple times to win even better that time. She nearly won again when stepping up to a BM70 at Mornington last time out, powering hard from the back to find the line and just go down second in a super tight finish. Hard fit now, Shinn on, commands respect.

Sandown Lakeside R6 - Senet Gamb. Law Experts (Bm64) (1200m)

Selections:
#6 - Immortality (NEXT BEST) - $4.80
#12 - Von Hauke - $4.00
#3 - He'll Rip - $8.50
#7 - The Guava - $6.50

BEST BET - #6 - Immortality (NEXT BEST)
Immortality should just have far too much class for them all things be equal here. He was coming off a big injury driven spell in his last run where the Price / Kent stable astutely placed him to shed the maiden tag as softly as possible when he arrogantly smashed them at Geelong a few weeks back before finding the line very well into the placings last time out at Mornington and looks like he will be hard fit for just his fourth career start, plenty and plenty of upside to come and will only run well here surely.

THE DANGER - #12 - Von Hauke
Von Hauke has come back to racing in a big way for Cliff Brown off a 19 week spell where before then he was having his debut prep at the races that saw him run two close back to back second placings before never being headed at Pakenham and being sent for a Spell. The resumption run however was awesome two weeks ago at mornington where he came from off the pace and three wide to run over the top of them late in a bold effort. He’s clearly come back in quite good order and rates highly here now second up.

VALUE BET - #3 - He'll Rip
The L & T Corstens trained He’ll Rip looks to have hit a nice bit of form second up and can definitely keep the ball rolling now. He resumed off a 26 week spell at Bendigo late last month and hampered at the start there before recovering well, being held up for a run at the 200m and still running home well when he finally got clear air late to finish just behind the placegetters. He then backed that run up at Mornington with an impressive display, sitting fourth on the rail before angling out on the straight and finding the line strongly to finish best inside the last 50m. More upside third up here and will be sure to run well again.

He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Sandown Lakeside Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

Multi Tips For Sandown Lakeside Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #4 - Good And Proper - PLC $2.20
R3 - #4 - She Dances - PLC $1.45
R5 - #9 - Running By - PLC $1.20

Total Odds = $3.82
$50 Stake = $191.40 Return!

Best Promotions for Sandown Lakeside Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.
