BEST BET - #7 - Latenighttoughguy (BEST BET)
Latenighttoughguy is a horse I have a lot of time for. The Waller trained Gelding is as honest as they come, rarely running a bad race. He seems to have found a bit of form returning to Australia from Hong Kong as this prep he picked up a soft first up win at Gosford over the 1000m when charging hard to the line late. Last tiem out at Canterbury he was given no favours, being inconvenienced throughout the run and still charging hard late to end up third. His racing style reads well for this and I think that he finds another beatable field here.
THE DANGER - #4 - Cotton Fingers
Cotton Fingers does look good and has a whole lot more appeal with Jmac on. He comes into this third up now and should be hard fit for this. On resuming from a long spell he placed a narrow second at this track over the 1100m but the times were slow and I am not sure how well it reads. However, the running style looks good and whilst he didn’t do much at Rosehill second up I think that he will be better suited in this field. He’s just not the one I want to have my money on.
VALUE BET - #2 - Le Vizir
Le Vizir is a five-year-old Gelding that resumes today here for the Snowden’s under Sam Clipperton and he rates quite highly in this field. He’s also a proven first up winner with two wins in four first up runs. They have had just the two soft public trials to lead him into this and I think that will suffice. If he can find a good spot to settle and with a bit of luck in running he can take this out.
