Wednesday Racing Tips - Warwick Farm Racecourse 15/03/23

Midweek racing kicks on at the ever familiar Warwick Farm and there’s been some really nice types so far in this NSW Autumn Carnival, between those that are looking to progress onto Saturday grade racing and some that are dropping back in grade after having reasonably unsuccessful metro grade debuts. There is one staying race in race 4 and the remainder of the races will be run over sprint distance and mid range distance. There’s a total of nearly half a million dollars prize available on the card and the track is expected to be a good 4, it should all make for an exciting race day!

Warwick Farm R1 - YARRAMAN PARK MDN HCP (1600m)

Selections:
#1 - Gago (NEXT BEST) - $4.00
#3 - Episodic - $6.50
#5 - Lasqueti Boom - $7.00
#7 - Ring Ahoy - $3.10

BEST BET - #1 - Gago (NEXT BEST)
Interesting little race we have first up here on the card with a couple horses who I have been following in their short preps this Autumn. I am keen to be with the Chris Waller trained Gago who comes into this fourth up off the back of two smart runs first and second up where she just missed to some smart types who also had the fitness edge on her. She gets a tricky map, having drawn wide but Nash jumps aboard and in the small field she shouldn’t land up in too bad of a spot, if she gets some cover in running, she can take this out.

THE DANGER - #3 - Episodic
On ratings alone Episodic looks really well placed in this field. She’s another Waller trained three year old who debuted at Canterury under the lights and did enough there to show promise when third of a small five horse field. She then went onto Kensington at the midweeks and wow did she run a good time there, never having the chance to get into the race before the 200m and then firing away to fall just short of the winner there. Her last run can be forgiven, the flying Avdulla jumps aboard and they map for a nice run.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Lasqueti Boom
Lasqueti Boom is a Three-year-old from the Curtis’ that didn’t have much luck last time out on Newcastle when racing wide throughout and not having enough in the tank to finish it off but her first up run prior to that at this track was in excellent time for the bogged down track and for the meeting that day. I think she has a bit of class about her and with the runs on board now she should be hard to run down.

Warwick Farm R4 - FURPHY (BM78) (2400m)

Selections:
#2 - Tip Of The Spear (BEST BET) - $3.10
#5 - Oz Legend  - $4.50
#3 - Oceanic Flash - $4.80
#3 - Goldman - $3.90

BEST BET - #2 - Tip Of The Spear- (NEXT BEST)
I backed Tip of the Spear last time out who was dropping back in grade and did look to really have started to find her footing to finish a brave fourth two runs back. She was costly to back that day as she raced a bit to keenly early and it told late, after taking over at around the 800m mark she was eventually gunned down late to end up second to Oz Legend who i also highlighted had all the ticks that day. She should be at peak now and I am prepared to give her another chance.

THE DANGER - #5 - Oz Legend
Oz Legend has been having an awesome prep, two runs back he dropped back to BM72 grade, racing against the aforementioned Tip Of The Spear and scored so smartly. He sat right at the back of the field before shifting super wide at the 800m and spanking the majority of the field from there. He looks like he wants a little bit of speed based off this prep and he gets that here, sticks at the track off the back of that win and doesn’t have to do too much more than last time to take this out.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Oceanic Flash
Oceanic Flash is a horse I have a lot of time for and whilst her prep has been a bit all over the place she really does look a winner based off her last run at Kensington over this distance a couple weeks ago. She has taken awhile to get hard fit but looks to be at her peak now, drops down from metro racing and if she can replicate that run again without getting too far back she has the late speed to run them down.

Warwick Farm R5 - PIERRO AT COOLMORE (BM78) (1400m)

Selections:
#7 - Pungo - $2.60
#5 - Le Vizir - $8.50
#3 - Travest (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $15.00
#1 - Saint Bathans - $7.50

BEST BET - #7 - Pungo
Pungo looks well placed to make it two from two this prep after returning to the races under the lights at Canterbury a couple weeks ago where he was wide throughout and shifted out at the 600m to chase hard to the line and go over the field there. He clocked in some of the best late splits of the meeting there and now draws the rail, gets in light again and I think if he shows up on Wednesday it can be a spectacle of a performance.

THE DANGER - #5 - Le Vizir
I have a lot of time for Snowden's trained Le Vizir who ran a couple weeks back at this track when second up and there was plenty to like there. After tracking along three wide with cover she showed a good change of gears and just kept chasing to end up third in the field. She maps to have a much softer run after having drawn out wide there, now she should sit right up on the speed and have something in hand late. She will be at peak fitness for this as well.

VALUE BET - #3 - Travest (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Not sure why the market is disrespecting Travest so much. He’s one of my favourite Provincial horses and is as honest as they come. He’s a track specialist here, having won five times here and most recently won here last time out a couple weeks back over this distance when just showing so much class to find a spot after being taken back from a wide barrier and storming over them inside the last 200m, with a meeting best last 600m as well. That was third up after a decent break and I think its safe to say he’s found form now and can go on with it here.

Jockey Of The Day – Brenton Avdulla

Brenton Avdulla has been seriously outstanding this year so far, having ridden multiple group racing winners at both Randwick and Flemington and he’s been keeping himself busy with rides at the midweeks as well from some top stables such as Chris Waller amongst others. He gets a nice little booking of rides tomorrow at Warwick Farm and we should see him go over for the win at least once.

Best Promotions for Warwick Farm Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.
