Wednesday Racing Tips - Warwick Farm Racecourse 20/09/23

Midweek racing returns to Warwick Farm for a bumper seven race card as we look towards a big racing weekend in NSW this Saturday and we see some of the more progressive runners from the NSW stables and outer state stables send forth runners who are in for big preps. I have run through the card and picked out a handful of solid betting spots so follow me below as I outline the day’s racing at Warwick Farm.

#1 - Soul Choice (NEXT BEST) - $4.80
#3 - Blackcomb - $4.20

#4 - Kahawaty - $6.00

BEST BET - #1 - Soul Choice (NEXT BEST) 
Sould Choice is the representative for the Waterhouse / Bott stable in the opener and looks very well placed to resume a winner here. He’s only had the eight career starts but has made six of them either wins or close runner up placings. He’s had a bunch of sharp trials to lead him back into racing with the most recent being an intentful third behind Last Straw. I think he rates well here from out front in this field at a nice price.

THE DANGER - #3 - Blackcomb 
Blackcomb is a smart animal who was formerly with Danny O’Brien and was doing well up in Saturday grade and has now come over to Kris Lees and looks to be in for a good first prep for the stable. He debuted for the stable off of a two month break at Wyong over this distance where he motored up on the turn to storm away from them in the straight. He will be sharper and fitter for that run and whilst he meets a solid field here, confident he measures up.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Chase My Crown 
Chase My Crown has been up for some time but looks well placed for another win here as he drops back from Saturday grade into this. He won at Kensington midweek a few runs back but his last few efforts have seen him racing at Rosehill in strong company where he last stepped out over the 1400m and got going hard late in the piece to finish just outside of the placegetters. That form reads very well for this and I think he is an honest chance.

BEST BET - #1 - Eastern Glow (BEST BET)
Eastern Glow rates a long way in front of this field and whilst there are some debutants here for the top NSW stables who look strong I think he is going too well to ignore and presents at a nice price. He beat the likes of Hollywood hero over this track and trip two back before putting in a very close second placing in the Dubbo Cup last time out. He’s hard fit, in form, Stanley has been with him all prep and retains the ride, can win again.

THE DANGER - #4 - For Victory
For Victory see’s Jaoa Morriera get the booking for his ride as Joao comes over to Australia again this year to race in our peak Group 1 races that we see coming up over the next few weeks in Australia and if his last stint in Australia is anything to go by, everything he touches runs well. This horse is stepping back from Saturday grade and meets a beatable field here hard fit now, the booking of Morriera signals intent. All positive signs.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Spaltet
Spaltet has looked very sharp since joining the Baker stable and looks to be approaching something of his peak now third up. He joined the camp a few months ago and has run well in two starts back when really getting going in his last outing a few weeks ago at the Hawkesbury where he found the front in the last 200m and was strong to the line, only missing to one other horse. He shapes up very well in this field now and I think he only runs well here.

BEST BET - #4 - Demiana
Demiana is a smart horse for Chris Waller who rates well in this field and I think has to be given another look here. He had a three run prep last time out where he contested some very strong Saturday grade races but was luckless and now resumes off a sixteen week spell with a trial in hand where he went like a jet. He comes to hand quickly with a few first up wins and I think he meets a beatable field here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Lucky Variety (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Lucky Variety is a very honest horse for Kris Lees that resumes here and on the splits / ratings alone should be taking this out. He last raced over the 1200m at Canterbury Park back in June where he was never really given a chance from out the back and wide when they ran their legs off up top. He’s had a few nice trials to lead him back into racing, has genuine speed late and if he can overcome the first up condition, which he has in the past, he wins this.

VALUE BET - #3 - Sweet Mercy
I think that Sweet Mercy is being somewhat overlooked by the early marker here for David Payne. He comes off the back of an 11 week break from racing into this and went away after running a super close third placing in a strong 1400m Rosehill Saturday race where he was beaten by the likes of the ultra progressive Semana. He looks very well placed in this field resuming and has run well first up before. Top chance at a big price.
