Wednesday Racing Tips - Warwick Farm Racecourse 30/08/23

Midweek racing returns to an ever familiar Warwick Farm Racecourse for another solid meeting at the course. There’s seven races on the card that follows the usual structure of one maiden race to kick the card off followed by 6 races to be contested in mid strength Benchmark Grade. There are a bunch of exciting looking sprints on the card with some of the top NSW and outer state stables astutely placing runners who could be onto bigger things. The track is rated a good 4, the rail is in true position and I think we are on for a super solid day of racing!

BEST BET - #1 - The Milkybar Kid (NEXT BEST) 
The Milkybar Kid is a runner for the Waterhouse / Bott giants who I keep having something on and I am willing to give another chance, hopefully he can finally atone for the near misses. He raced last time out at Canterbury over the 1900m where he led the field out and was only run down really late in the piece to finish second and now should be at his absolute peak for this fourth up and out 300m in trip. He gets a key claim from Mclucas which brings the weight right down to 58kg and I am keen on him to run well.

THE DANGER - #4 - This'llbetheone 
This’llbetheone looks like he will sharpen up here for John O’Shea getting the blinkers on now and staying at this trip after stepping out to this distance last time out at Warwick Farm three weeks ago and he jumped awkwardly then and also contacted another runner during the run but did well to recover and came on strongly despite the racing manners not totally being sharp. He’s certainly fit enough to take this out now and with the blinkers on now.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Karmazone
Karmazone can back up his effort from last time out, improve into this and certainly has what it takes to be winning here. He was three weeks between runs when he stepped out in the This’llbetheone race that I mentioned before at this track / trip when setting along the fence and chasing hard into third place when the split came at the 300m and he powered to finish third. He will be hard fit now and ready to tackle this trip again now.

BEST BET - #4 - Lolly Yeats (BEST BET)
Lolly Yeats looks like one of the standout bets on the program at Warwick Farm and I am keen to have something on him. He rates a fair bit on top of this field and comes off the back of a win at this track / trip when stepping out at the beginning of this month after finding the lead / fence there and being far too strong for them when challenged to win well. He’s been given ample time to recover now for this and doesn’t take on too much weight. Will be in this for a long way.

THE DANGER - #1 - Hollywood Hero 
Obvious danger in the Bjorn Baker trained Hollywood Hero who comes back from racing in strong company up in Saturday grade at Randwick when he last stepped out over this distance just under two weeks ago when running in a strong BM78 that saw him find the rail and be hard to run down from there but a few with gun runs claimed him late in an honest effort. He drops back a fair bit in depth now and does have to lug 60.5kg but will be prominent from the jump undoubtedly.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Jesse James
I don’t think Jesse James wins this but I do think he is a sneaky chance to fill the placings here at odds for the Warren stable. He hadn’t seen the races for a lengthy 86 weeks before stepping out for Anthony Warren for the first time since coming over from Annabel Neasham when last at Kensington and pulling up Lame there with abrasions to both hind legs. He gets the booking of Zac LLoyd which signals some level of intent and I would like to see how he looks in the yard on race day. Interesting to say the least.

BEST BET - #8 - Outsider
Outsider draws a good gate here and rates highly in this field on splits alone. He is an honest horse for Chris Waller that has taken some time to get going but has really kicked up in his last couple and gets an honest chance in this field. He ran three weeks ago over the mile here when finiding the front at the 200m and peaking slightly too early to be overrun by the winner in the final stages. Not sure how he handles dropping back 300m now but has the class edge here, splits look good and from gate two Nash can find the front and be hard to hold out from there.

THE DANGER - #7 - Coriolis
Obvious danger in this field is the Godolphin Coriolis who put together a couple sharp wins and placings before having a short break from racing and then stepping out off that 5 week lay off at Canterbury last time out where the tactics weren’t perfect and he should have been ridden further forward from the low draw but was still far from disgraced there and beat half the field. I suspect with Jmac on now it will sharpen him up a fair bit and will undoubtedly be strong here on the quicker turn around. 

VALUE BET - #1 - Kibosh (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I wouldn’t say that Kibosh is absolutely flying for John Thompson but I think he is definite over’s in this field and can take this out if he brings his best here. He’s had two runs back from a twenty two week spell and I think they read better than on paper. His last run saw him get too far back in the run and he did come on strong but was caught wide in the latter stages of the race and that saw him fade late in the piece. He will be better for those runs and is definitely ready to peak third up. Good jockey on, not the worst gate, I think he is definite overs in this field.
