Racing returns to Ipswich racecourse and Moonee Valley racecourse for great cards to lead us into the listed racing we see on Saturday and I am very keen to build some momentum to go into the weekend’s racing. Lightly raced field here and I think that Peter Moody’s Linas Reel is a fair favourite here. He debuted at Moe over the mile where he was very impressive, chasing hard throughout the entire run and really starting to come on strongly at the 400m before being held up from then until the 200m where he burst through again with clear air to place second in an effort that really should have seen him win. I think he will improve into this only second up into his career and am keen to see how he goes here.

Taking Flight seems to have been set up very well here and I am keen to watch how he goes in the run. He came off a massive 97 week spell and a handful of trials when racing at the Sunshine Coast last time out and honestly produced an awesome effort given how long he hadn’t raced for then. He ran wide in the run and trucked along before just being outkicked to the line. He now gets in super light with the claim from Waddell and has been set up much better off the back of that resumption run. Very well placed.
