Best Tip: Cranbourne - R4 - #4 - Sergeant Mavers
Interesting field here with a bunch of these being multiple start maidens but I think that it makes this a great betting spot for Sergeant Mavers. He comes here for his seventh career start and fourth overall since coming to Joseph Waldron. The last two runs have been very impressive at Pakenham where he got no luck but ran home hard into the placings before stepping out at Bairnsdale last time where he really should have won but was nailed late by a smart horse. He’s hard fit, Stockdale’s been with him all prep and retains the ride, should be strong here.

Best Roughie: Tamworth - R7 - #6 - Akasawa
Not sure why Akasawa comes in at such a huge price here but I am keen on him regardless and think that he will be prominent all throughout the run here. He’s a beautiful horse that has four fresh wins from six runs, two wins and a runner up placing in six at this trip and a win in two runs at this course. He comes here having not raced since a $200k race at Rosehill back at the end of last year and has had an electric trial win at Scone in the interim to get him ready for this. Go well at a big price.
