Time Bandit faded from the front position to finish just off of the winner last time out at Nowra when he resumed from a 20 week spell and placed second in a very solid effort for the Baker camp at just his fourth career start. He should be fitter and sharper for that run and only really needs to live up to the expected natural improvement second up to be winning this.

Best Roughie: Newcastle - R3 - #2 - Miss Adamas
I think that Miss Adamas has to be given some sort of a chance in such a small field where half of them are unraced and she has the runs on board and has been working towards a win nicely. She is a bit of a milk drinker having not broken through in thirteen career starts but came awfully close last time out when stepping out over the 1000m at Gilgandra and being trapped three wide no cover but coming on strongly despite the tough run to power home well and only be claimed on the line. Shapes up well here off the back of that.

Stats and Insights
- Kris Lees has an impressive 26% strike rate at Newcastle and has a few runners placed in the racing at the track so watch closely.
- Newcastle is a spacious and flat track with a 400m straight that gives almost all barriers an equal chance to run on.
- Inside barriers are at an advantage at the 900, 1000 and 1100 metre starts at Nowra racecourse.
