Best Bets of the Day

Racing returns to this Monday to some familiar faces with seven and eight race cards at Bathurst racecourse and Pakenham racecourse and we come off the back of a luckless Sunday with both of our bets finishing just outside the placings and after a solid day in Saturday Tips I am keen to hit back hard and have gone out and picked a best bet and best outside chance of the day across the two aforementioned tracks as well as where to pick up the best odds for these picks across the Aussie betting sites / betting apps. I have also posted a short section underneath the tips that includes the best promotions going around across the Aussie betting sites and that is worth checking out below. There are some insights right at the bottom of the article that should prove useful for betting at the tracks. Follow me below for another solid day of racing!

Best Tip: Bathurst - R4 - #2 - Whetu

Whetu looks like a standout top pick in what looks like overall quite a soft field here at Bathurst tomorrow and I think as long as he can handle the top weight, he will prove too good for these. He gets in at 61kg with the claim from Panya but has been putting together very sharp runs and only finding one better in his last few outings. He stepped out over the 2100m last time out at Goulburn on a bog track where he looks to have really hit form now after taking a few runs to get going and came from deep in the field to weave a path through on the turn and really got going hard late when clearing all but the winner, Naval Commision, who looks a Saturday grade animal and was a clear winner that day. Back 100m is no issue, more than ready for the trip and I think he will be too good here.

*The Best Tote bet type pays bettors the highest dividend declared by the three national totes. The VIC TAB, NSW TAB and UBet. This likely means that there aren't fixed odds available at the time of writing this on that bookmaker and there likely will be.

Best Roughie: Pakenham Synthetic - R6 - #9 - Princess Raffles

Princess Raffles looks like a good thing going for the Hayes boys and presents as overs in this field. I am always looking for runners on the Synthetic that have recent synthetic form and her last four runs have come at this track, with two sharp placings before a win and then most recently having a little break from racing before coming here again over this trip where she looked a bit flat but still chased hard to finish just outside the placegetters. I imagine that was due in part just to a slow recovery and she would be placed again at this trip if the stable didn’t think she was right to go. She looks a top chance in this field and at ~$7.00 I am keen to have something on.

Stats and Insights

  • The Bathurst Racecourse is downhill from the 1400m to 800m giving horses that start fast out front a cheap time of things as it is less physically exhausting than the ‘normal’ course.
  • Pakenham is one of the smallest tracks in the country, with only 1400m circumference and as such suited to front-runners and those horses with the ability to race handy to the pace
  • Often, at 1400m - 1600m at Pakenham Synthetic winners predominantly emerge from barriers 5-8 which suggests those horses who either fire straight onto the speed or those that sit just behind the speed have the greatest chances.

Best Racing Promotions

Promotions are an imperative aspect of horse racing betting and have traditionally been the primary mode of punters getting an edge over the  Aussie horse racing betting sites as you are essentially getting an extra shot at your bet that you wouldn’t traditionally be offered through promotions.

Punterspal, in the last few Saturday racing meetings, has stuck out to me amongst the Aussie betting sites that provide racing promotions and is one Australian betting apps I would look into, particularly when it comes to Saturday racing as we approach the Group 1 races season again this Spring.

On our site we have a Punterspal Review that goes in depth into the bookmaker as well as other reviews such as Vicbet reviews, Palmerbet reviews etc amongst some of the other top bookmakers that frequently have promotions.

Promotions tend to change regularly, so it is important to sign up to these betting sites to stay updated on the latest applicable promotions.
