Racing returns to our premiere racecourses in NSW, VIC and QLD with bumper cards of listed racing at Rosehill racecourse and Caulfield racecourse and also a support card at Doomben racecourse. We have one Group 1 race across the program at Caulfield and a bunch of other high level contests across the country. I am keen to keep the momentum going on what has been a good week of horse racing betting and have picked out a best bet and best outside chance of the day. Best Tip: Rosehill - R4 - #2 - Straight Charge

Straight Charge is an absolute machine for the Waterhouse / Bott giants and I think that this is a race in two with the two runners they send out for this race but I think Straight Charge just gets the nod for me. He was shaping up to be the horse to beat in the Magic Millions after thrashing a field at Randwick at the end of lat year but it was decided he will aim for the Golden Slipper instead and he kicks things off with a run here. He draws wide but I think he just gets the job done.

Best Roughie: Doomben - R10 - #4 - Sneak Preview

A typical Graham and Vandyke combination here but a not so typical horse in Sneak Preview who has looked incredible in his past three runs, winning each of them in fine fashion and comes here chasing a fourth consecutive win and looking to close out the campaign in a big way. I think he shapes up very well here and should be going strong, watch very closely.

Stats and Insights

Caulfield Racecourse is a tighter track than Flemington and suits on pacers more until distances past 1600m.

Over the shorter trips at Doomben (up until about the 1350m) outside barriers are significantly disadvantaged. Look for horses that draw inside or have lots of early speed and stay away from those that are backmarkers.

It has been noted by stewards and sharp punters recently that being on pace and close to the rail has been the best place/places to be at Rosehill in recent times, a track that is known to change every couple months in terms of bias so take good note of that.
