Hell Approaching is past due to shed the maiden tag and despite the big field and there being a few key chances here I am backing him to not get buried too far back in the run here from barrier one. He’s had eight career starts and has finished runner up in half of them and now gets Taylor Marshall back aboard who has had plenty of success on him before. He resumed off of a 21 week spell at this track and trip a few weeks ago where he was very wide throughout and overcame that run to still power home very impressively and just miss, but clocking the best closing splits of the meeting. He looks a very talented animal who will have a much better chance from a decent draw now and will be sure to have improved off that first up run.

I am convinced that Mcmillian’s Scorpius is going well. He’s had three runs for the stable since coming over from Brett Cavanough and hasn’t put in a bad performance. He scored first up at this course in good time before stepping out again at the track / trip (1110m) where he was trapped four wide with no cover all run and still found plenty to beat all but the winner. Last time out he was trapped wide again and shuffled back in the field at Narromine on a day where there was a clear front running bias. He now comes back to the track that he loves racing at, is hard fit, gets a key claim from Stanley retaining the ride and the extra 200m will only aid his chances in winning again.
