Racing returns to Gosford racecourse and Pakenham racecourse this Thursday for two solid cards in NSW and VIC as we are well underway into the peak of the Autumn season and we see some very progressive runners stepping out for these meetings. In this I have picked out a best bet and best outside chance of the day across the two cards. Best Tip: Gosford - R1 - #7 - Kervette

I am not generally a fan of taking horses early that have a few runs without winning but Kervette brings superior form lines to this race and despite drawing a wide gate I think he’s going to towel this lot. She has last raced in two very strong mile races on the bounce at Warwick Farm where the form has really stacked up with multiple winners coming out of those races and also the rating that he retained out of those races was very good and reads the best in the race for this.

Best Roughie: Pakenham - R4 - #9 - Infinity Imperial

Infinity Imperial looks awfully close to a win in two career starts and now comes here approaching peak third up. He debuted here when chasing home nicely despite not being a winning chance before stepping out three weeks between runs at Geelong and getting a trail in second and two wide to hit the lead at the 200m and fighting hard to the line to just miss out on the win when overpowered in the final 50m. He shapes up very well under Winona Costin third up now.

Stats and Insights

Often, at 1400m - 1600m at Pakenham winners predominantly emerge from barriers 5-8 which suggests those horses who either fire straight onto the speed or those that sit just behind the speed have the greatest chances.

Pakenham is one of the smallest tracks in the country, with only 1400m circumference and as such suited to front-runners and those horses with the ability to race handy to the pace.

Gosford has a 400m straight with the home turn being a long sweeping turn which gives runners time to position themselves for big runs in the straight.
