Follow along with me for the best free horse racing tips on race day! Thursday's racing action takes us to Wyong and Geelong and I have found a best bet for you at betting sites in Australia. There's also a juicy roughie to get on board. The track at Wyong on Thursday is a soft 6 at the moment but that could change. There's plenty of rain predicted in the area and the high will be just 17 degrees. There should be better conditions in Geelong for Thursday afternoon racing, starting from 12:25pm. The track is a good 4 and there's only a small chance of rain in the morning, which shouldn't impact racing. Let's get into it!

Best Tip: Eye Of The Fire #3 Wyong R7

I like the look of Eye Of The Fire in Race 7 at Wyong on Thursday. Previously won at Hawkesbury over 1100m, carrying 59kg. That was a really good win, so I think Eye Of The Fire should be tough to beat on Thursday too. Before that, Eye Of The Fire finished first at Kembla Grange in a Cls 1 on April 27, 2024 over 1300m, winning by 0.6L and beating Watch My Girl (58kg).

Best Roughie: Elba #11 Geelong R8

On May 18 at Flemington in a Open over 1100m, Elba started slow and finished 9th out of 12, while carrying 51kg at $13.00 odds. Previously, 2nd of 9 at Werribee BM64 on May 6, 2024 over 1100m, behind Tiz Time (59.5kg) with 59kg at $3.20. So hopefully, Elba can back to that winning form in Race 8 on Thursday. She should enjoy the distance and Craig Williams is in the saddle, he knows how to get the job done.

Stats and Insights

  • The Wyong racecourse is near circular, offering runners with more dynamic run styles and those that handle bendy tracks a big advantage, also gives those close to the rail an advantage in sprints.
  • The Geelong course proper is known as a track that gives every horse its chance as the circumference is 2043 metres with a straight distance of 400 metres.
  • The first 3-4 races in most meetings are called "Maidens" and these races are usually risky and unpredictable. This is because the runners are usually making their debut or have only had a few starts. So it's advisable to stay from these races unless you have a good bankroll.

Best Racing Promotions

Promotions have historically been a great way for bettors to gain an advantage over betting sites by providing an edge to your bet. For racing specifically these promotions can be extensive in providing you some form of ‘outs’ to your bet that you wouldn’t normally receive.

Palmerbet, in recent weeks, has stood out to me across the Aussie betting sites that offer racing promotions and is one that I would take a look at, especially for big race days that feature Group 1 races and Saturday’s in general.

On our site we have a Palmerbet Review that goes in depth into the bookmaker as well as a Vicbet and Punterspal Review amongst some of the other top bookmakers that frequently have promotions.

Promotions tend to change regularly, so it is important to sign up to these betting sites to stay updated on the latest applicable promotions.
