Best Tip: Newcastle - R4 - #4 - Hanau

Hanau rates very highly here for James Cummings and I think it’s his time to go over as he just looks so well set up for it. He resumed off of a 20 week break from racing last time out in Saturday company at Randwick and ran so well behind a smart winner in Fire Tribe when taken back from a wide gate but flying home to beat all but the winner. He rates well staying at the distance, back a bit in depth and fitter with Lloyd aboard. All good signs and he is the one to beat for me.

Best Roughie: Pakenham - R6 - #4 - Indaza

There are a fair few chances in this race and some smart looking horses so I can somewhat understand how Indaza is at longer odds but I still think the price we are seeing now is too good to ignore with this horse. He has had two runs to kick the career off for Maher and Eustace and has improved sharply between each of them and I think now coming into this hard fit and off the back of a run at the Valley where he fought hard to the line to place second in a race that has had two subsequent winners. I think that he is going very well and only needs even luck to be in the finish here, which is a stark contrast with the $8.00 quote he has been put up at.

Pakenham is one of the smallest tracks in the country, with only 1400m circumference and as such suited to front-runners and those horses with the ability to race handy to the pace

Often, at 1400m - 1600m at Pakenham Synthetic winners predominantly emerge from barriers 5-8 which suggests those horses who either fire straight onto the speed or those that sit just behind the speed have the greatest chances.

Kris Lees is the top trainer at Newcastle with a near 30% strike rate here, he has five runners at the course tomorrow, three of which are in the 1st or second line of betting and one outside chance so watch for all of them tomorrow.
