Racing continues off the back of a really solid midweek meeting at Kensington Racecourse and Sandown Hillside and this Thursday we go to Wyong Racecourse and Townsville Racecourse for what is looking like quite a sharp set of regional meetings with some progressive types going around. Highway Patrol looks like it’s going to take a very good thing to beat him. The Edward O’Rourke trained juvenile looks to make start one a winning debut after they have carefully and patiently placed him in a race they are happy with after being scratched a bunch of times for his firs start. He has won both lead in trials in good times and the latest saw the blinkers go on which he looked to relish when leading and winning. He wears the blinkers for start one, draws well and should go very close.

It does look like if Gulf Of Lion holds form here that there is no reason to jump off him. He’s had three runs back from a spell this time in and after a first up run for fitness he broke the maiden tag with ease before backing that up with a win in a Class 1 race last time out which very few horses generally are able to do. He draws wide now and steps up for a harder contest but there’s not much speed around him, I think he rolls forward easily and will be hard to run down from on the pace hard fit fourth up now. Top chance.
