Best Tip: Doomben - R2 - #1 - Transatlantic
Transatlantic looks like quite a sharp horse for Tony Gollan and I have backed him a few times in his short career so far but he is proving to be very progressive thus far and I think he’s as good as a sure fire bet to kick things off at Doomben tomorrow. He’s coming off a very sharp Eagle Farm win where he led them out over the 1500m and drew away dominantly in the straight and now should be even stronger here, go well.

Best Roughie: Newcastle - R7 - #2 - Cloudland
Cloudland gets a very good set up here and cannot be ignored for Kris Lees coming into this third up. He’s had two runs back from a spell and has continued to improve between each and now looks ready to win. Gibbons was on him first up where he ran very well into the placings and now jumps back aboard for the third up ride, he’s got a win and two placings in three third up runs and I expect him to be strong here.

Stats and Insights
- Over the shorter trips at Doomben (up until about the 1350m) outside barriers are significantly disadvantaged. Look for horses that draw inside or have lots of early speed and stay away from those that are backmarkers.
- Kris Lees has an impressive 26% strike rate at Newcastle and has a few runners placed in the racing at the track so watch closely.
- Newcastle is a spacious and flat track with a 400m straight that gives almost all barriers an equal chance to run on.
