Vanquished looks like a smart horse for the Gai / Bott stable and the way that they are going with their juveniles I think that he looks very well placed to get the maiden win checked off here. He had a bunch of trials before resuming off of a 25 week spell and leading last time out before giving a strong kick and just falling short in the concluding stages. Fitter now, up in trip, he’s the one to beat for me.

The Lions’ Gate resumed off of a long 32 week break for Matty Dunn and looked very strong at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago when doing so, so I am not knocking him at all off of that. He jumped awkwardly there but recovered well through the run until getting his chance in the straight and working home very well but his first up condition combined with the tough run just told late when headed into third.
