Racing returns to some of my favourite midweek courses in VIC and NSW with bumper cards set for the Hawkesbury racecourse and Sandown Lakeside racecourse this week and I have run through both of the cards extensively and picked out my best betting spots in each of them with full length free horse racing tips posted on our site. Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets 21/02/24
Best Tip: Sandown Lakeside - R1 - #9 - Quickster
Quickster has got to rate highly coming back to racing here after kicking the career off with a very solid run into fourth place in a Group two at Moonee Valley before stepping out in late November in the Caulfield Guineas and chasing solidly to end up midfield there. That was a Group 1 race at her third career start so you’d imagine she will be tough to beat coming here now.

Best Roughie: Hawkesbury - R1 - #6 - War Ribbon
War Ribbon is a debutant for David Payne here and I think based on the way the stable is going with their juveniles as well as a few sharp trials to lead this guy into racing he can feature here at odds. He’s had two Rosehill trials and in each has looked strong and displayed a pleasing stride to finish second and get Collett on and a solid gate.

Stats and Insights
- Sandown Lakeside has a similar dip to the Hillside in the course at around the 450m mark by the rail. As such it suits horses that make their runs away from the inside, enabling them to avoid the dip at the 450m mark.
- Sandown Lakeside has a smaller turn from the 800 to the 400 compared to Hillside which allows for runners to come on from wider more, this creates more of a shoot out effect.
- The Hawkesbury racecourse is near circular, offering runners with more dynamic run styles and those that handle bendy tracks a big advantage, also gives those close to the rail an advantage in sprints
Best Racing Promotions
Promotions have historically been a great way for bettors to gain an advantage over betting sites by providing an edge to your bet. For racing specifically these promotions can be extensive in providing you some form of ‘outs’ to your bet that you wouldn’t normally receive.
