Best Tip: Gosford - R4 - #10 - Rockin' Millie

You would have to think Rockin’ Millie gets the maiden win out of the way now at start number four. He has placed runner up in all three of his career starts and comes back to racing here since last August. He’s had a few sharp trials to lead him back into racing with the latest being a win at this course and I think he will be tough to beat here.

Best Roughie: Sandown Hillside - R7 - #8 - Daily Bugle

Daily Bugle seems to have been set up very well for the win now. I am keen to see how she looks in the yard but all things being equal she is as good a shot as any in this field. She comes out of a 1100m race in Saturday company at Flemington where she really got going late to come from the back of the pack and power home to finish just outside the placings. I think that with Shinn aboard and the extra 200m she can run a better race here

Stats and Insights

Sandown Hillside has a dip in the course at around the 450m mark by the rail. As such it suits horses that make their runs away from the inside, enabling them to avoid the dip at the 450m mark.

Sandown Hillside has a wide turn from the 800 to the 400 compared to Lakeside which allows for runners to come on from wider that wouldn’t be able to on the Lakeside course.

Gosford has a 400m straight with the home turn being a long sweeping turn which gives runners time to position themselves for big runs in the straight.
