Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets 29/05/24

Both tracks will have similar conditions for racing on Wednesday. It's 21 degrees at Belmont and Canterbury, both tracks are rated a soft 5 at this stage as well. Let's get into it!

Hostile Talk is back in action at Belmont R4 after a five-month spell. Last time we saw him, he finished dead last in a tough Ascot Grad Hcp 60+ race back on January 1. But don't let that discourage you. He was carrying 54.5kg and ended up 5 lengths behind Brave Venture, who was the favourite at $2. 

Now, let's talk debut – he was the top pick and boy, did he deliver. Hostile Talk stormed to victory by a massive 3.5 lengths in a Mdn race at this very track back on December 6. He was up against Bronte's Dream and carried 56.5kg, but still came through as the winner at $2.

He's been putting in some solid trial performances leading up to this comeback race. So, keep an eye out for Hostile Talk in his first race back on Wednesday arvo at Belmont.

In Canterbury R6, I've got a solid contender here in Bunker Hut. Now, Bunker Hut might not be the flashiest, but he's definitely got potential. In his latest run at Randwick Kensington Bm78 on May 15, he held his ground and snagged 3rd place out of 10, not too bad. Even on a wet track, he managed to keep it together, finishing just 4.5 lengths behind the winner, Rhythm Of Love, while carrying 58.5kg.

Back on April 25, in another race at Randwick Kensington, this time in a 4yo+ Bm72, Bunker Hut showed some serious grit. He tracked the speed, kept his cool and finished a solid 2nd out of 7 contenders, just a long-neck behind Kokoro. He did it carrying a hefty 61kg at $5.50 odds.

So on Wednesday, I think Bunker Hut is in a prime position to take this race and will be my roughie of the day!
