Current 2025 Perth Cup Odds

The Perth Cup is due to take place in just under a week. So we thought there was no better time than the present to look into the current odds (thanks to Bet365) and see which runners are more favoured in the market right now. 

It is a very open market at the time of writing and we see three runners hold the title of equal favourite; Diamond Scene, Sentimental Hero and Young Werther. All three runners are going around with odds of $6.00 In total, there are currently six runners that have single-digit odds.

The Michael Grantham gelding previously held the favouritism on his own, but now shares it with Sentimental Hero and Young Werther. This will be just the second time Diamond Scene will contest a Group Two race, but his recent form suggests he will run well. He is coming off a win in the Listed A.T.A. Stakes.

Diamond Scene has a lot of experience at Ascot Racecourse as well, so that should help him here. In his run before the A.T.A. Stakes, he finished second by just 0.2L in the Listed G.A. Towton Cup, which is a key form race for the Perth Cup. The 5YO gelding has a career record of 16:8-1-0 to date.

Sentimental Hero is another one of the current favourites in the 2025 Perth Cup and just like Diamond Scene, the gelding has also come through the Listed A.T.A. Stakes, where he finished in second place, just 0.8L behind Diamond Scene while going around as the pre-race favourite.

The 7YO has a great second-up record, currently sitting at 5:3-0-2, which is probably one of the key reasons he is an equal-favourite. Before his run in the A.T.A. Stakes, he won the Listed A.J. Scahill Cup, which is also raced at Ascot. There’s clearly a lot to like about Sentimental Hero for the 2025 Perth Cup.

Young Werther has taken somewhat of a different path from the other two current favourites in the Perth Cup. The Danny O'Brien gelding hasn’t been racing recently at Ascot, instead, we last saw him in a BM100 at Caulfield Heath where he finished seventh. The 7YO has been fighting it out at the top throughout his career though, with a Group One record of 12:0-2-3.

As the favourite, Young Werther has a record of 5:1-2-2 and despite eight attempts at Group Two level, he is still yet to win. Could this be the time he finally breaks through for a Group Two victory? The weight assigned to him along with the barrier draw will likely be a huge factor in his chance of success.
