Perth Cup 2025: Trifecta and First Four Tips

The Perth Cup is almost here and it looks to be one of the first real high-quality races of the year. There’s $1 million in prize money up for grabs in this Group Two, so all runners will be looking to put their best foot forward and get their 2025 off to a fantastic start.

If you’re looking for something more on the exotic side of life, then you have come to the right place! I have put together my trifecta and first four tips for all OnlyRacing readers. I’ve gone through the entire field and found the runners that I believe will run a good race.

Keep reading to see which runners in the 2025 Perth Cup have made the cut!

2. Young Werther (NZ)

On the equal second line of betting, Young Werther is currently going around with odds of $6.00, thanks to PlayUp. Gets the services of Damian Lane, who has been performing quite well as of late. He has been a bit unlucky so far this prep, so hopefully his luck changes for this one.

3. Let’s Galahvant

Taking a chance with Let’s Galahvant for the Perth Cup. The 6YO gelding is currently going around with odds of $9.50, thanks to PlayUp. It is his soft record that has caught my eye, which currently sits at 15:5-3-2. Could have won the Group Two Ted Van Heemst Stakes last time out, finishing second by just 0.1L.

4. Socks Nation

Socks Nation is another that will enjoy a softer track and with the current rating of a Soft5, that’s what we are looking at here. Will have to overcome a wide barrier, but she has enough speed to get into an ideal position. Currently going around with odds of $13, thanks to PlayUp and I think she has a real chance.

5. Serpentine (IRE)

Serpentine gets no favours in the barrier draw and will jump from barrier 14. He does have a good enough barrier speed, which he will need every bit of in this one. PlayUp is currently offering odds of $7.00 for Serpentine to take the win here and we last saw him finish fourth in the Group Two Zipping Classic.

6. Diamond Scene

Diamond Scene is another on the equal second line of betting with odds of $6.00, thanks to PlayUp. He has some serious form coming into this one after winning three of his previous five runs. This includes winning the key lead-up race the Listed Listed A.T.A. Stakes. Before that win, he finished second by just 0.2L in the Listed G.A. Towton Cup.

12. In Good Order

In Good Order is the final runner that is on the equal second line of betting thanks to PlayUp (with odds of $6.00). Comes into the Perth Cup in winning form after taking out the Group Two Ted Van Heemst Stakes here at Ascot Racecourse last time out. Won’t have to carry as much as some of his main competitors which is a big tick.

15. Sentimental Hero

The current $5.00 favourite with PlayUp, Sentimental Hero will be looking to turn the tables on Diamond Scene after he went down to him in the A.T.A. Stakes last time out after jumping as the favourite. Gets the benefit of a softer track which I think he will enjoy and jockey Lucy Fiore retains the ride.
