Saturday Racing Tips - Bendigo Racecourse 13/04/24

Racing returns to Bendigo for a massive nine race meeting as Bendigo Golden Mile day has arrived and there are some nice types going around for the big Victorian stables. It’s going to be a great day in horse racing betting with the feature of the day being the bet365 Golden Mile, a listed race for a share of $200k prize money. Follow me below as I outline my best betting spots on the card!

BEST BET - #7 - Garza Blanca (BEST BET) 
It really should be Garza Blanca here for Ciaron Maher. He resumed over the 1200m at Kembla on Class Day where he sat on the speed and looked the winner a long way but was just found out late by Astero who has gone on to win again. I think he will be much improved with the run on board and is undefeated second up. He looks a good bet to kick things off at the course for us.

THE DANGER - #1 - Boldinho
I’ve always had plenty of time for Boldinho and he’s another Ciaron Maher trained horse who I am giving plenty of respect to. He last ran three weeks ago at The Valley over the 1200m where he was on the speed throughout the run when just fading late behind Extratwo. He’s been turned around a lot quicker than he was when stepping out for that run and I think he goes well here. 

VALUE BET  - #11 - End Assembly 
If the whispers are correct then End Assembly is going to return in a big way off of the long 44 week spell and making his debut for Peter Moody. He hasn’t been seen since June last year in the Group Three Gunsynd Classic at Eagle Farm when finishing midfield and now has been given plenty of time to do some work under Moody and generally goes very well with fresh legs. He’s jumped out well for this and the booking of Meech signals plenty of intent.

BEST BET - #7 - Belle Et Riche 
Belle Et Riche narrowly on top in what looks like it will be contested by the top three / four picks. Mitch Freedman has this horse going very well off the back of a run two weeks back at Flemington where she was near last in the run and made some very good ground late to finish only a length away from He’s Our Bonneval. She’s third up now, hard fit and back to her own sex, rates as one of the hardest to get past here.

THE DANGER - #10 - Lady Jones
I was interested to see where Lady Jones was next set to step out after resuming on All Star Mile Day for Stephen Brown where she raced in the Mystic Journey and came from just off the pace to dig deep for a big run in the straight, looking the winner and only being run down late by Waltz On By. She has plenty of upside to come from that run and out to 1400m looks very positive, go well here.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Sirileo Miss (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Sirielo Miss is a very capable horse for the Wilde camp and she should be strong resuming in a race like this. She hasn’t been seen at the races since this time last year when producing a flat end of prep run in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes but was brilliant in winning a Group Two and Group Three in the two runs prior. Been afforded a long break and has three first up wins in six first up runs and in terms of class she has panels on most of these.

BEST BET - #1 - Sunshineinmypocket (NEXT BEST) 
You don’t know the ceiling of an unbeaten horse and that is the case with Ciaron Maher’s Sunshineinmypocket who has won each of his three career starts and looks like one of the leading contenders here. In each of his races he’s shown a lethal turn of foot to let down late and spank them, looks like he’s going to relish getting out to the 1400m based off of his run style and I think he’ll be sharp here.

THE DANGER - #8 - Roll On High 
Second prep at the races for Roll On High, representing the Moody and Coleman camp and this guy really could go on to be a WFA star and will need to take this out to continue progressing. He has had two runs since coming back from a 17 week spell and last ran in the Sunline (G2) at The Valley where he chased hard all through the straight but wasn’t able to run down the trifecta. He’s hard fit and meets some easier competition here, still learning and with plenty of upside he rates as one of the toughest to beat. 

VALUE BET - #12 - War Machine
War Machine has come back brilliantly for Mick Moroney and has to be respected getting into this race third up and hard fit. He shed the maiden tag easily when returning to racing at Kyneton in a soft field before stepping out at Cranbourne last time out when Bates gave him the sign to let down in the straight and he did so beautifully when putting a big gap on them to win well. He obviously jumps well up in competition level now but he’s got a great racing pattern and will be flying home late.

I think that we have to tread lightly with a multi on such a competitive day of racing with so many of these horses having been geared for the races on this card. As such, I have given favour to those horses who have drawn good gates, are well weighted and who have top jockeys on as these factors can be all the advantage you need for a win in the circumstances.
