Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 06/04/24

Racing comes back to Eagle Farm this Saturday as a nice support card for the huge Group 1 races that take place in Sydney and Melbourne this weekend and there are some very sharp looking Queenslanders stepping out. I have run through all of them below and picked out my best betting spots so follow me as I run through the card!

BEST BET - #12 - Sacred Feeling (BEST BET)
It looks like it’s quite a tough day at Eagle Farm, at least early in the card, but I think that Sacred Feeling will relish getting out to the 1800m and seems like a very solid bet to kick off the day’s punting at the course. She last raced at Doomben a few weeks ago over the mile where she looked the winner before just being overrun late in the piece by a smart horse. She won at this track and trip this time last prep and should be able to replicate that again.

THE DANGER - #11 - Mascaret
I always give plenty of respect to Waller’s horses up North and this girl comes here a few weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Doomben where she was held up in the straight before getting a split just a bit too late to be a winning chance but ran a very honest third to Smooth Torque. I like her out in trip now and I expect her to make this a race.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Thesecondatportsea
Thesecondatportsea is absolutely flying this prep for Jack Bruce and I think he can hit back hard here off the back of a luckless effort last time out at this course where he drew the pain barrier and still was so honest in defeat when chasing hard home out wide to finish fourth in a big field. He put two blitzing wins on the record at this course and Doomben in the two starts prior since returning to racing and I think it would be foolish to overlook him here.

BEST BET - #7 - Princess Tenko (NEXT BEST)
I think the Taylor camp has a good thing on their hands with Princess Tenko and she looks set to get her fifth career win in this race. She comes into this third up and ready to peak after stepping out here a fortnight ago over the 1200m where she was on the speed and ran a very narrow second to Bubba’s Bay who just had the fitness edge. She gets a very good map here, good at the weights after Graham’s claim and should be winning this.

THE DANGER - #6 - En Pointe
En Pointe looks to be holding form very well for Rob Heathcoate and once again gets a good set up here with the claim from Wheeler and a nice gate. He has won two from his past three, all coming at Doomben where he has overcome the track bias to swoop on them late and overhaul the fields in the final 250-100m. I think he rates incredibly highly off the back of those efforts and can’t be treated lightly coming to Eagle Farm now.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Vintage Choice
I think that Vintage Choice deserves another look here coming off a three month break from racing when last stepping out at Rosehill at the beginning of the year where he pulled up with a bunch of issues post race relating to not recovering from the run prior. He has had a blitzing trial win since and Neasham generally has these runners rearing to go first up so keep your eye on him.

BEST BET - #19 - Majestic Boom (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Majestic Boom is a winner and I am big fan of horses that just find a way to get the job done. He’s two from two this time in, winning at $101 on debut and then proving that wasn’t all he had when stepping out here three weeks ago and being held up for a bit before finding a split and sticking to his task very well when overhauling the field late. All you can do is win and whilst he strikes an honest contest here he will be very strong again I am confident.

THE DANGER - #14 - Ocean Zar
Ocean Zar is a horse I always have my eye on when he steps out for the O’Dea and Hosted camp. He last ran at this course two weeks ago when doing too much too early and subsequently being eased down and out of the race. He looked to have some issues there but the Vet insisted nothing was wrong so I’m not sure what to make of her off that run but if she brings her best she should have these covered.

VALUE BET - #12 - Brave Maso
Brave Maso looked like he just needed the run first up when stepping out at this course a couple weeks ago off the back of a 15 week spell and really getting into his stride early before being eased down out of the race later in the piece. He ended off last prep on a high with a win and a bunch of sharp runner up placings and generally improves sharply second up. That, combined with getting in very light after the claim from Wheeler and a good gate here all makes him worth a look.
