Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 20/01/24

Racing returns to Eagle Farm with seven races to be run and won at the course and we are looking to kick the year off in style as I have run through the seven race card and picked out my best betting spots. There are some high level contests on the card with Ladbrokes Yard Comments being the feature of the day, a BM75 sprint.

Not overly happy with the odds on quote but I do think that the Ryan and Alexiou camp has a very good horse on their hands with Commanding Artist who debuted at Randwick a fortnight ago and put in a good shift first up over the 1200m but just fell off a bit in the straight behind Parkour. He will be race fitter and should be winning here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Mishani Crown
A lightly raced Les Ross runner always has to be respected at The Farm and I think that based off of how Mishani Crown ran a couple weeks back in the Gold Pearl on the Gold Coast she will shape up very well here. That was in much stiffer competition and given she is still going well this prep she’s going to be tough to beat here.

VALUE BET  - #6 - That’s Interesting
That’s Interesting has form lines that tie in with Mishani Crown when placing just behind her on debut for the Wanless camp and then last stepped out at Rockhampton where she blitzed the field to win well. This is a step up in competition now but I am convinced she is up to the task.

I am going to stick with the O’Dea and Hoysead’s unbeaten filly who is now two from two kick her career off after a flying win at Doomben where she looked a Saturday grade animal she then last stepped out at Ipswich and beat the second up syndrome to smash another field. This will be her biggest step up in competition but I am confident she handles it.

THE DANGER - #1 - Bold Comic
Bold Comic comes into this a few weeks between runs since last stepping out here in the Gold Edition over the 1200m where he got buried too deep in the run to be a winning threat but he was flying home behind Abounding who we know what he did when he last stepped out. This will be a tonne easier than that so he obviously looks a good bet in this field.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Jukebox in Siberia
Annabel Neasham looks to have placed Jukebox in Siberia with a lot of consideration so given she was meant to step out in what looked like a tougher assignment than this and has been saved for this I think she has to be respected here. She comes out of a soft kill at Ballina and although this is a step up, she should be right for it.

BEST BET - #9 - Black On Beauty
Black On Beauty resumes here for Tony Gollan and comes back to racing after going away looking like a future star. She closed off the campgain with back to back wins at this track and trip and I think that she will be onto bigger races than this but given how well she goes fresh and her liking for this course there is no real reason to knock her here.

THE DANGER - #5 - Emperor
Emperor should relish getting out to this trip and I think has to be given some consideration here. He has been racing at the 1000m in his past few and I think that he is looking for longer. He’s proven he has the engine to measure up so coming into this hard fit and getting the extra bit of trip I am giving him plenty of respect here.

VALUE BET - #3 - Mahbaby (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)  
After the way the Mahbaby blew expectations out the water at Toowoomba on the 1st of Jan I think that it would be foolish to not give him a look here. He stepped out behind the likes of Rothfire and Steady Ready when coming from off the pace and flying home to finish fourth. Before then the win at Doomben was very sharp and he can hit back hard here without surprising. Comes in at a nice price too.
