Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 23/03/24

Racing comes back to Eagle Farm this Saturday as a nice support card for the huge Group 1 races that take place in Sydney and Melbourne this weekend and there are some very sharp looking Queenslanders stepping out. I have run through all of them below and picked out my best betting spots so follow me as I run through the card!

#15 - Ocean Zar (BEST BET) - $3.30
#9 - Brookhaven - $5.00
#3 - Pentito - $8.50
#12 - Kinetic - $11.00

BEST BET - #15 - Ocean Zar (BEST BET) 
First very solid looking bet of the day here at Eagle Farm is Ocean Zar for the O’Dea and Hoystead camp. He needs to be forgiven for his last run at this track and trip three weeks back when pulling up with thumps post race with a clear excuse then. He dominantly won the start prior to that and I think that is good enough to see him take this out now.

THE DANGER - #9 - Brookhaven
Chris Munce’s Brookhaven has to rate as the key danger here having resumed three weeks ago over the 1200m at the Gold Coast post Gelding when being strong through the line despite not being a winning chance there when making up plenty of ground late. He should have a stack of improvement off of that run and will be prominent through the run here undoubtedly.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Pentito
Pentito is a smart horse who, if he runs to his best efforts, will win this. He raced in the Sunshine Coast Cup two back before stepping out at Doomben a few weeks ago where he was ridden very hot and it didn’t work out for them when fading down the track behind Anythink Goes. He gets a bunny to chase now and will be very strong here I think.

BEST BET - #4 - Zouna
Zouna steps out for just his second career start for the Mayfield-Smith camp who are absolutely flying and I think he has to be respected here on his debut run and the stable’s efforts. He debuted at Doomben not too long ago when blitzing the field in the straight to win very well and I think that coming back to 1000m will be no problem for him. Very keen to watch him step out here tomorrow.

THE DANGER - #1 - Devine Force
Another dangerous Munce trained filly seems to be the theme of the day at this course and this guy resumes to racing post a two run Spring prep where she won both and did so impressively. She has been kept on ice since then with a beautiful trial win last week at Doomben and off the back of that I have to have my eye on how she goes in resuming here now.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Mishani Lily (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Mishani Lily has had an impressive start to her career for Les Ross and can certainly go on with it here, especially given the booking of Jimmy Orman for this assignment. She’s already won two and placed runner up in another from five starts and won well first up at Doomben before just missing to her stablemate last time out at the Gold Coast when running home hard into third place. Rates highly off those efforts hard fit now and in form.

BEST BET - #2 - Hold On Honey (NEXT BEST)
If you have been following me for awhile you would know I am a big fan of Hold On Honey for the O’Dea and Hoysted camp and she’s a true sprinter that should prove hard to beat here. He resumed at this track and trip a few weeks back when getting control from out front and never relinquishing it when winning well. He has plenty of upside to come off of that run and comes in at a very backable price here.

THE DANGER - #13 - Apophis
Apophis is an honest danger and the market is specking him with a fair bit of confidence for Lindsay Gough even though he’s tackling the hardest competition that he has faced. He resumed at this track and trip a couple weeks back when letting them get out in front of him before finishing over the top of them late for a very strong win. He’ll be the strongest late so these best get out in front of him early.

VALUE BET - #4 - Nashira
Nashira is a horse that I have always had plenty of time for and that doesn’t really change now. He is a real winner with five wins and six placings in seventeen career starts and I think he can resume well to racing here. He’s had four first up runs with one win and two placings and comes off a very sharp trial at Doomben the other week where he wasn’t asked for effort until very late in the piece when running home well and showing he’s got the engine running.
