Saturday Racing Tips - Flemington Racecourse 30/03/24

Racing comes back to Flemington racecourse this Saturday as the Group 1 races Autumn season is underway and we have an exciting meeting here in Victoria with $5 million across the card and the massive feature of the day, the Tab Australian Cup, a $3m Group 1 race over the 2000m. I have run through the card and picked out my best betting spots for the listed races at this meeting, follow me below as I outline them!

BEST BET - #4 - Ameena (BEST BET)
Ameena is just such a nice horse that I think despite being untried at the 1200m but I think that her two 1000m runs have just been so meritful that she should handle stepping out to this trip now. Her class based off of those runs would suggest that she has panels on this field and I think that they have their eyes on the Percy Sykes and if they win this she will be the number one seed. 

THE DANGER - #3 - Tobeornottobe
Tobeornottobe seems like a very good stable rep for the Griffiths and De Kock camp after having had just two runs to kick off his career and I think he is set to peak here third up. He last stepped out in the Blue Diamond Prelude when running amazingly home into fourth place and going very close late in the piece to Hayasugi. That form reads exceptionally for this and with further upside to come he rates highly here.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Yes Lulu
Yes Lulu is a Ciaron Maher filly that comes out of the Redoute’s Choice a fortnight back at Caulfield where she stuck on well in defeat behind a sharp one in Bold Bastille. She should relish stepping further out in trip now off the way she ran that race and I think 1200m is ideal, in a race without too many talented horses she can leave her mark.

BEST BET - #13 - Estriella
Estriella is a very sharp filly for the Maher camp who I think has been set for another win here after arrogantly winning the Inglis Sprint when she found the front and didn’t give anything else a chance to get into the race when winning very comfortably. She now comes back to the 1100m and should only be stronger ridden conservatively. Her recent jumpout was very sharp and she’s clearly been revved up for this.

THE DANGER - #2 - I Am Unstoppable
I Am Unstoppable looks to get a much better set up this time round than when he stepped out in the Lightning where he just didn’t really get into his stride when finishing down the track behind Imperatriz. He has been targeted for this race and as such has been kept on ice for it and I think he can make an impact now.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Hedged (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Obviously taking a big step up in competition is Hedged here for the Price and Kent camp and we were on him in our Free horse racing tips last time out where he stepped out as favourite and got the money when very strong to the line, cruising to the front of the race and kicking a couple lengths clear of the field. He has now made it three wins in six starts and should have plenty of improvement off of that resuming run.

BEST BET - #8 - Atishu (NEXT BEST) 
I am going to, albeit scarily, take on the two big guns in this race and go with Atishu to take out the biggest race of the day for Chris Waller. He was three weeks between runs when last stepping out at this course in a group two and belting the field with an amazing ride by Shinn to win very well. He is one of the more proven runners out to 2000m in this field with a win in the MACKINNON prior to the most recent spell and I think with the way Shinn’s been going they can take this out.

THE DANGER - #7 - Pride Of Jenni
Obvious danger is Pride Of Jenni who has been flying this time in and has clocked some of the best wins I have seen this season. She clocked such a good win in the All Star MIle when setting a hot tempo out front and never being threatened to win oh so well. She will be leading here and if the track bias is in her favour it will be a case of good luck beating her.

VALUE BET - #2 - Cascadian
Onlyracing had the winner in this race last year who pulls up here again for James Cummings in Cascadian and he looks like he’s been on his way to win this race again. He last ran in the All Star Mile where he never got close to Pride Of Jenni but did plenty of his own work late when really opening up deep in the straight. He will eat up getting out further in trip now and will be one of the strongest late.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse.
