Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 24/02/24

Racing returns to Rosehill this Saturday for a bumper ten race card and there are some high level sprints and staying races and racing is really starting to heat up with three group two races at the course and a listed feature of the day. The Parramatta Cup is the feature race of the day, a 1900m open race for a share of $200k prize money. I have picked out my three best betting spots on the card and as such am keen to run through them and give you guys some good bets for tomorrow so follow me below!

BEST BET - #2 - Belvedere Boys (NEXT BEST)
I like the Randwick form of Matty Dunn’s Belvedere Boys and also the way the stable’s been going he’s hard to knock here. He comes out of a Highway a fortnight back at Randwick where he was blocked for a run until too late in the piece to be a winning threat but was strong through the line behind a good horse. He’s got the class for this race and whilst he’s a bit unknown at the 1400m I think he is the leading contender here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Atmospheric Rock 
Atmospheric Rock has to be given a look here after the way he won second up for the Williams camp when stepping out at Randwick where he was forced three wide with a bit of cover throughout the run in a 1200m Highway before just finding more in the straight and coming away from the field to win very well. Hard fit third up, more improvement to come, he only runs well here for me.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Rapbidash
Lyle Chandler’s Rapbidash is a good second up horse with a win second up and comes here with that being the case after resuming from a 9 week break from the races at Randwick two weeks ago where she was solid through the line behind Atmospheric Rock. She’s been revved up a lot more for this assignment and should be strong here.

BEST BET - #2 - Straight Charge (BEST BET)
Straight Charge is an absolute machine for the Waterhouse / Bott giants and I think that this is a race in two with the two runners they send out for this race but I think Straight Charge just gets the nod for me. He was shaping up to be the horse to beat in the Magic Millions after thrashing a field at Randwick at the end of lat year but it was decided he will aim for the Golden Slipper instead and he kicks things off with a run here. He draws wide but I think he just gets the job done.

THE DANGER - #1 - Espionage 
Obvious danger is the stablemate in Espionage who beat Straight Charge when they both debuted in September last year in the Breeders Plate at Randwick and the way he found the line late in the piece to emerge victorious was nothing short of awesome. He’s had a few sharp trials to ready him for the return to racing and he will be prominent here undoubtedly.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Erno’s Cube
Erno’s Cube is a smart horse for the Maher and Eustace camp that I think is being somewhat overlooked in this field due to the domination of the Waterhouse / Bott horses in this field. He comes here having not stepped out since the Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast where she ran well behind a sharp horse. She’s had a solid trial to lead her back into racing and maybe she doesn’t win now but she should look sharp at least some of the way.

BEST BET - #8 - Vienna Princess (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I can’t find a reason to knock Vienna Princess really despite how much I am looking for one. This Chris Waller trained mare really came of age in Spring last year after winning the Silver Eagle in fine fashion she went onto the $10 million Golden Eagle and was the first mare home when placing sixth and beating a bunch of Group 1 races winners. She generally moves very well with fresh legs, has had a bunch of trials for the return and I think is overs here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Zougotcha
Zougotcha is another resuming runner for Chris Waller that has to rate highly coming back here. She mixed her form a bit in the Spring when looking good throughout the run in her three runs but failing to make any real impact so she has been spelled until now. She’s had some great trial work to lead her back into racing and she will be ready to fire first up here.

VALUE BET - #11 - Howgoodareyou
Just how good is Howgoodareyou for the Waterhouse and Bott camp. He has only been unsighted in one of seven career starts with four being wins and recently came back to racing off of a 20 week spell when setting along the fence and leading before just being beaten in the latter stages of the race. He’ll be fitter, sharper and gets in light with Bayliss aboard. Sure to run well.

Avdulla has found great form this year with a near 50% place rate and near 20% strike rate. He has been super consistent in NSW and that has been recognised to a large extent by the bookings that he has been getting. He gets a top selection of rides for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Chris Waller and I think he is a top shot to pick up at least one win on Rosehill at Rosehill.

Whilst it is scary to tip in some of the bigger field races I think that with it being early in the season and a lot of runners being on resumption that there are some clear top picks in each field and as such I have combined my best runners of the day into a place multi. Whilst it might not be the same level of value we generally get I think that it is a worthwhile bet and has a good chance of coming in.
