Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 30/03/24

Racing returns to Rosehill this Saturday for what is one of the peak Group 1 races meetings of the season with the Kia Tancred Stakes being the pinnacle racing of the day in NSW, a 2400m Group 1 race for a share of $1.5m prize money and we have plenty of high level support races at the course and I have thoroughly run through the card and picked out my best betting spots and outlined them below so follow me for a very exciting day of racing at Rosehill!

BEST BET - #9 - Renaissance Woman (NEXT BEST)
I think it has to be Renaissance Woman to kick off betting at Rosehill tomorrow for the Baker camp. She needed the run first up before stepping out in the Coolmore a fortnight ago and working home very well behind Zougotcha. That is clearly the A1 form for this race and she gets in with no weight on her back, hard fit third up, I think she takes this out with a bit of arrogance.

THE DANGER - #1 - Zeyrek
Market is absolutely loving Zeyrek for Team Hawkes who gets turned around quickly third up now after stepping out last Saturday in the Ranvet where he sat off of a hot speed and wasn’t asked for any effort when not being able to go on with them late. He gets into this way better at the weights, drops in grade and overall looks to have been set up with far more intent here.

VALUE BET  - #10 - Little Mix
I wasn’t all that convinced with Little Mix last time out when he stepped out a fortnight ago at this course in the Epona but I think that with that run under the belt he looks set to peak fourth up here. He ran on well into fourth last time out in the Epona when ridden too hot but just showing his class to overcome being tired when the rider was also a ½ kg over. He shapes up very well off the back of that run and now I am more convinced to give him a chance.

BEST BET - #2 - Hinged
Hinged looks like she is approaching a win for Chris Waller out to this level after running what I thought was one of the best runs in the Coolmore two weeks ago where she sat at the rear of the field before really clicking up in the straight and making solid ground behind Zougotcha. She gets onto her preferred grounding now and is hard fit and looks up to taking this out.

THE DANGER - #13 - Makarena
Makarena is a very smart three-year-old for the Hawkes camp who comes into this fourth up in her prep and who is going very strongly this time in and should have what it takes to win this. She last raced in the Phar Lap Stakes when beaten by a smart one in Zardozi. She should get every chance here from the low barrier and I think will be running home strongly.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Vienna Princess (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Vienna Princess is third up from a spell and should be approaching peak fitness for Chris Waller and is a horse that I have had my eye on all prep. She ran in the Coolmore that a lot of these runners came out of where she was right at the tail of the field and made up heaps of ground behind Zougotcha. She is hard fit now, has won at this point in her prep before and can run a cracker race at odds.

BEST BET - #5 - Post Impressionist (BEST BET) 
Post Impressionist made his Aussie debut last week when coming off a 28 week break and smashed the Manion Cup field to win very well. He’s been brought over with the intention of the Sydney Cup but based off how strong his debut run is I think that this isn’t out of reach to take out on his way to the Cup.

THE DANGER - #1 - Buckaroo 
Buckaroo is one of the better credentialled runners in this race and has run very well in all three of his last starts. They’ve all been at WFA with his most recent run being a third place when 5 weeks between runs and his most recent saw him come on very strongly to finish just behind Via Sistina in third. That reads very well for this and he just has to see out the trip to be competitive here.

VALUE BET - #3 - Ashrun
Ashrun is a very sharp horse for Ciaron Maher and looks to be going very well towards a win. He smashed the field in the Pakenham Cup when stepping out for the first time at 2500m and coming from the tail of the field to absolutely obliterate them. He steps out to WFA for the first time but this race isn’t overly deep and I think that off the arrogance of that win he should be strong here.

Avdulla has found great form this year with a near 50% place rate and near 20% strike rate. He has been super consistent in NSW and that has been recognised to a large extent by the bookings that he has been getting. He gets a top selection of rides for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Chris Waller and I think he is a top shot to pick up at least one win on Rosehill at Rosehill.

Whilst it is scary to tip in some of the bigger field races I think that with it being early in the season and a lot of runners being on resumption that there are some clear top picks in each field and as such I have combined my best runners of the day into a place multi. Whilst it might not be the same level of value we generally get I think that it is a worthwhile bet and has a good chance of coming in.
