BEST BET - #3 - Pretty Amazing (NEXT BEST)
Pretty Amazing has looked pretty impressive thus far in her short career. Particularly, last time out she was resuming to the races at Kensington two weeks ago over the 1550m where she missed the start and was nearly 15 lengths of the leader at one point before absolutely belting through to the line, clocking one of the best last 600ms of the day and motoring home into third behind Luvoir. She appears that even if she settles a touch closer this time she will be too strong for this field late and I have her mapping to sit just off a genuine tempo and being in a good spot to launch on the turn.
THE DANGER - #5 - Pungo
I’m still a bit unsure on the true threshold of Pungo, who comes into this third up after scoring in fine fashion first up at Canterbury at the end of February. I had a bit of money on him there and wow he was impressive when getting back in the field from an awkward spot before shifting out and running them ragged late, clocking in an excellent last 600 time. He stepped up to a 1400m Warwick farm race last time out second up but he had to do too much early work there and went down third behind Bitcoin Baby and Le Vizir who are both excellent formlines. He shouldn’t have to do too much work here and maps to lob into a lovely spot behind the leaders. Will take beating.
VALUE BET - #4 - Jupitus
Jupitus scored impressively at Randwick first up over the 1400m in mid february but couldn’t go on with it when moving out to this distance and staying at the track, coming third behind the super progressive Journalism. Last time out he got no favours either and was against the run of the race, being worn down late. I think we can forgive that and he gets a genuine chance to go over again fourth up tomorrow in a softer field from a decent gate, I just think he might get too far back to threaten but if he’s around the mark on the turn he has what it takes to win.
