#4 - Utopian Wine (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.10
#1 - Gold Pattern - $10.00
BEST BET - #6 - Wolves
I think Wolves surely runs well here for the Smith camp despite being a scary horse to back with just the one win in nineteen runs but I think that is largely attributed to poor handling earlier in his career and he does look ready to win now after two very sharp placings to kick off the campaign from a 57 week spell. He’s come back a different horse and after the way he ran home into second last time out it is clear he is ready to peak and win third up, happy to give him a look here.
THE DANGER - #2 - Nana’s Wish
Similar story to Wolves with Nana’s Wish for Maher and Eustace. I think that Nana’s Wish could very well be a good horse but just the one win in nine runs makes me hesitant to back her at the short quote. However, she resumed off of a 20 week spell last time out at Randwick when coming from very wide to run home into third sharply and rates highly off the back of that.
VALUE BET - #4 - Utopian Wine (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Utopian Wine is shaping up to be a smart horse for Chris Waller with two wins in five career starts and he has been running particularly well since coming off of a little break. He recorded his second career win at Gosford two back before last stepping out over the 1550m at Canterbury and not finding a run until very late in the piece but once he did he powered home very well to place nicely there. Hard fit here, Tommy Berry on, only runs well imo.
