Wednesday Racing Tips - Randwick-Kensington Racecourse 13/03/24

Racing comes back to Randwick-Kensington this Wednesday for another sharp card this week as we are underway with the Autumn Group 1 races season after huge racing kicked on last weekend and I have run through this week’s card and picked out a best bet, next best and best outside chance of the day so follow me below as I run through the card!

BEST BET - #1 - Roselyn's Star (BEST BET)
Straight bat option in the opener at Randwick would have to be Roselyn’s Star who stepped out on debut over the 1100m at Canterbury a couple weeks ago and after jumping awkwardly and contacting another runner he bounced back to find the lead and fight on well in the straight only to go down late to a very sharp horse when the two of them put a gap on the field. Shapes up very well here now with natural improvement second up.

THE DANGER - #6 - The Three Hundred
The Three Hundred has to rate as a key chance for Gai / Bott here after resuming to racing off of a 16 week spell at the beginning of last month in Saturday company on the course proper part of this track and looks to have resumed strongly to racing when chasing hard in the straight to finish midfield. He has had a tick over trial in between runs now and the stable’s flying so don’t treat lightly.

VALUE BET  - #2 - After Match
I have to give After Match at least a look here for the Snowden’s. He trialled at Warwick Farm in the middle of February for the first time before stepping out here for another recent trial a few weeks ago and powering home to win that trial effort very well and beat some sharp horses from leading camps. Good draw, Parr aboard and only runs well here on debut for me.

BEST BET - #9 - Little Jeanie (NEXT BEST)
Little Jeanie comes across here for start number one for Chris Waller after having two starts in New Zealand to kick the career off and I think he will be improving sharply here under Waller. His two efforts in NZ have seen him go very close to breaking maiden, both being runner up placings and he now comes to make his aus debut off a stack of sharp trials, with Jmac in the saddle and from a good gate. He’s the one to beat.

THE DANGER - #12 - Rip Off 
I am convinced that Rip Off is on the verge of breaking through for James Cummings and gets another chance to do so here. He’s had three runs this time in and has continued to improve with each with his most recent effort being at The Hawkesbury where he came from just behind the speed in the straight to chase very hard when no match for the winner but just kept chasing to end up second place. He’s hard fit now fourth up, clearly in form and meets a beatable field here at a big price. Lots to like.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Kirragirl 
Kirragirl is a horse that has continued to improve sharply between runs for Chris Waller since making her debut at Canterbury two runs back before stepping out at Rosehill two weeks ago in the midweeks where he worked from wide in the run to settle just behind the speed and stayed on tough to hold second place in a strong field. Third up now, hard fit and with Tim Clark jumping aboard he should feature here.

BEST BET - #1 - Angel Fund
Angel Fund has been running very well in three starts back from a spell this time in for David Pfieffer and I don’t really see any reason to jump off him now after narrowly missing last start. He won very sharply two back at Canterbury when just finding a split late in the piece and charging to the front to win well and then narrowly missed at Randwick last time out when flying late into second place, clocking some of the best late splits of the meeting. Hard fit, more in the tank and should be winning again now.

THE DANGER - #6 - Amoreaux 
Amoreaux has only clocked the one win in six start but has come very close in most of his runs this time in and that winning run came just two starts ago at Canterbury when jumping out awkwardly and contacting another runner before finding the fence and then the lead and never being in doubt from there. He didn’t enjoy getting out to the 1200m last time out but I think coming back to this distance hard fit he should be strong here.

VALUE BET - #2 - Konasana (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Big step back in grade for Konasana who resumes here for Chris Waller and looks to make it three wins in seven career starts and was last seen at the beginning of November last year when running in the Group Two Wakeful Stakes when running home into midfield there. He is a first up winner once in two first up runs and has won at this track / trip combination. Comes in at a big price and has the quality edge on this field.
