Wednesday Racing Tips - Warwick Farm Racecourse 06/03/24

Short but sharp card tomorrow at Warwick Farm with eight races on the program and the feature of the day being the James Squire Mdn Hcp, a super maiden for a share of $100k. I have run through the card and picked out my best betting spots on it and I do think there are some particularly good spots. Follow me below as I outline the days racing at Warwick Farm!

BEST BET - #1 - Pasima (NEXT BEST)
Pasima looks like a good way to open up betting here for Ciaron Maher in the early races. He’s had a few runs back from a break this time in and just continues to put in good efforts without winning. The most recent of which saw him step out at Canterbury and power home to just miss in an effort that suggests he surely has to win soon. I think that comes now.

THE DANGER - #3 - Eclipsion
Favourite here for the Price and Kent camp and I think he is quite a smart favourite. He made his debut at Pakenham a couple weeks ago over the 1400m when putting on a very bold display from out wide. He set third and three wide with no cover when looming at the top of the straight and fighting hard into midfield from out wide. That was a bold effort given the trouble he encountered in the run and he should only be tougher here.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Autumnmation 
Autumnmation comes far back in depth for this assignment and I think has to be given a chance here coming out of some much tougher races. He last stepped out in Saturday company at Rosehill just over a week ago when drifting back in the field before coming off heels before the corner and running home hard to look the winner before just being overrun late in the piece by a smart horse into second place.

BEST BET - #1 - Etna Rosso
Etna Rosso looks like a sharp import for Chris Waller that should continue to progress here and I think can do it quite sharply. He has had two runs this time in for the camp and ran at Randwick over the mile last time out where he was off the speed and held up until the 150m but when he did get clear air he powered home well to finish midfield. He does his best work at this distance range and looks the winner on paper.

THE DANGER - #2 - Notabadbuy
Notabadbuy has seen a very successful campaign so far for the Waterhouse / Bott stable and can get another win aboard here with the right kind of run under Hypo. He comes off of a win when stepping out to this trip last time out at Canberra where he did plenty out front and fought the field off for a gutsy win when really having to dig deep. He rates highly off the back of that and should put on a sight again here.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Owen County (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Owen County is another sharp and in form horse who comes here for the Widdup stable off of a few sharp runs with the last two being efforts in which he has really clicked up in. He stepped out to this distance two back when proving too good at Gosford, storming away from the front in a thin race before going out at the Hawkesbury over the 2000m and winning again in a tough effort from out wide. Hard fit, in form, can win again.

BEST BET - #1 - Piercing Arrow (BEST BET) 
Piercing Arrow looks like another of the Waterhouse / Bott camps that gets sent out for what looks like a reasonably soft kill tomorrow, coming back to race off of a 40 week break. He has had the lone run thus far at Warwick Farm last year where he blitzed a field and was never in doubt. He’s had four trials to lead him back into racing and has improved between them. Go well.

THE DANGER - #5 - Winston Hills
Winston Hills comes back from a let up here after returning to racing at the end of January off of a very long 60 week break when factitious in the barrier but was passed fit and took over the race at the 200m and proved too strong for them. There’s been three subsequent winners out of that race and he’s had a trial win since to lead him back into racing. Go well here.

VALUE BET - #7 - Rock Hard Love
Rock Hard Love has had just the two runs to kick the career off for the Baker stable and has proved very sharp in both. He debuted with a close third placing at Newcastle when retaining a big fitness benefit from doing heaps of work out wide and then went out at Gosford last time out where he saluted well. He should still have plenty of upside off the back of that effort and should be sharp here.
