Wednesday Racing Tips - Scone Racecourse 22/03/24

Racing returns to Scone racecourse this Friday and we have been having some great success at the track in its recent Friday meetings and I am keen to pick up some more winners here tomorrow. We have a solid eight race card at the track tomorrow. As usual I have run through the Scone race card and picked out my best bets for the day so follow me below for another exciting day of racing!

#1 - New Pharoah (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.00
#4 - Justice Served - $13.00

BEST BET - #4 - Justice Served 
Gentileschi is a filly I am happy to be in the corner of the giant Messara camp and one who I think will find the front here without too much trouble and be hard to hold out from there. She ran very fast splits on debut before stepping out in the Reg Allen at Randwick in October last year where she was far from disgraced. She’s had two sharp trials to ready for her return now and should be strong here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Draco's Fire
Draco’s Fire has given us no real reason to doubt him in two runs to kick his career off for Annabel Neasham. He debuted mid February at Bathurst when holding second in a decent debut effort before stepping out at this course a few weeks back and driving to the front at the 200m, giving a strong kick but just fading late when overrun by the exacta. He should be sharp now third up and I imagine tough to get past again.

VALUE BET  - #1 - New Pharoah (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
New Pharoah has looked like a very progressive animal in four career starts for Brett Cavanough and is knocking on the door for a win with two runner up placings and a close third. He resumed off of a 39 week spell at Newcastle at the beginning of last month when being held up in the straight and running home well when getting clear air to place third. He should be tuned up and improved off the back of tha effort and only needs even luck to feature here.

BEST BET - #5 - Hellcibell (NEXT BEST)  
Hellcibell looks like she’s continued to improve with each run in four starts for the Cavanough stable and looks very well placed along with all their other horses at the track tomorrow. She resumed off a 23 week break at Newcastle last time out when running well over the 1200m and now comes back 100m in trip, likely to peak third up over the 1200m but I think there’s a good chance that she wins this en route to another big run next time out and am happy to entertain her at $3.00 odds.

THE DANGER - #4 - Giving Delight
Giving Delight has run very well in his four career starts for Rob Northam and should be strong here in resuming off a 24 week spell. He’s already won two of his career starts and now returns to racing off a very sharp trial win at Muswellbrook where he led them out and displayed a very nice stride to hold the field at bay there. He has drawn the rail here and I think will give a sight at odds.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Sky Artist
Sky Artist has run very well on wet tracks in the past and I think he had genuine excuses last time out when coming off a 3 week break and being beaten home by the field when running beind Hellcibell. He was flying prior to that with two wins and a placing in his three previous runs and I think that he can hit back hard now.

BEST BET - #8 - Belvedere Boys (BEST BET)
Belvedere Boys looks like one of the better placed favourites of the meeting tomorrow for Matty Dunn and he is a horse I have plenty of time for after winning three and placing runner up in two from six career starts. He comes off a very sharp win at Rosehill at the end of February over this trip and with Orman aboard combined with being saved for this race I think he will be awfully tough to get past here.

THE DANGER - #11 - Sharp Shock
Sharp Shock has been very strong for Rob Northam in his past few runs and has to be respected here. His run two back at Rosehill in some tough company was rock solid when powering home from deep in the field to place second before stepping out at Newcastle in a Group Three and being held up from the 300m to the 100m before powering home to grab second in an effort he should have finished a lot closer in. Rates highly now coming into this.

VALUE BET - #6 - Sizzle Minizzle
Sizzle Minizzle is a horse who I can entertain at longer odds and who has run very well third up in the past so I think has to be given a look here. He also rates highly coming out of his second up run at Coonamble when running in a listed race there and making his way to finish just behind the placegetters after recovering from over racing in the middle stages of the run. He has a win and runner up placing in two third up runs and should be prominent here, think he’s over the odds.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside.
